Default Thrilling Thursday Thoughts

Good morning! It poured last night but I remembered to bring in the chair cushions from the deck before it started. Let's sit out there and ignore the construction mess. Being able to sit outside is thrilling, right? It's going to be a long winter.

Yesterday was sort of a lost cause as far as building progress - we are on hold pending the engineer's report. He finally showed at 4:30 and will let us know today how to proceed. Paul, my contractor, is very anxious to get going again but we are a week ahead. I am really looking forward to having this new downstairs room by September and am already planning where my sewing table and quilt fabrics go!

In the meantime, it is soooo strange to be dogless after having three of them last week. I took some more dog food to the kennel yesterday and they both recognized the car sound and set up a howl although I did not say a word, just handed over the food. I hope to get them back on Sunday if the dog fence is back in place. They are behaving but obviously miss me.

I'm probably off to Kingston today to select my hardwood, vinyl flooring, ceramic tile and light fixtures. I might even take in a movie and dinner if the timing is right. May as well take advantage of not having "family" responsibilities.

Hope your Thursday is a thrilling one.

It's a Thrilling Thursday for me, as I'm able to sit at the kitchen table with my laptop again.

It sounds like most of us Easterners had rain yesterday. I left my car window down and ended up with a very wet driver's seat during one heavy downpour. Sitting on a folded beach towel can get very uncomfortable!

I have to take the girls to camp this morning, and later Cindy is going to teach me how to do her books. That should be fun. I just realized I have to get a new dress for my nephew's wedding next week, too, and don't know how I'm going to fit in the time for that as this weekend is booked. Maybe I can eke out a few hours tomorrow to go shopping.

Well, I have to be out of here in an hour, so I'd better get hopping. I hope your Thursday is full of the good kind of thrills!

Good morning from the soggy northeast

Ruth - Picking out the flooring sounds like fun. I hope you and the family are able to be reunited soon.

Cottage - Yay for the inexpensive laptop return! Have fun shopping. I noticed that you are getting mighty close to goal.

Hope all the traveling Chicks are having a great time and making healthy choices

It's another meeting day for me, big week. Once again I get to drive 2 hours each way for a 2.5 hour meeting. I'm planning lunch with a friend at the Division though, so that will be fun. She eats the way I do - lots of local, healthy stuff and is going to introduce me to a new restaurant. I can't wait. It will be nice to find a place that isn't just sandwiches. On the plus side once I'm home it's my weekend.

I ran out of fresh fruit so I'm having my cereal with some dried cranberries and spiced apple chunks from last year's dehydrator stash. Yum.

Hope the sun comes out where you are and the thrills are all the right kind!

Good Morning!

I had a dream that I was using the potty. My eyes sprang open and I ran to the bathroom! No accidents for me!

Ruth, I know you miss your doggies. Can you visit them or will that just make everyone sad? Did you get to see a movie?

Cottage, What kind of books are you going to keep? I have a friend who keeps books for small businesses from home. She makes a killing!

Cyndi, Do you get reimbursed for travel? We get 55 cents per mile. I'm all about traveling!

Me: I don't know what's in store for today at the office. The trial was supposed to be over yesterday. I had to leave at noon to take Auston to Kindergarten testing, so I wasn't there at the end of the day. I bet the trial is over, but the jury is still talking. I would really hate being on this jury. But I was there for jury selection. They SO wouldn't have chosen me.

Is anyone addicted to a show called True Blood? I loved the book it's based on. It's a really fun vampire show -- NOT for the squeemish.

Did you hear that Schmoodle is coming to my Jazzercise class? I'm so excited! Debbie, pack up!

Good Morning

Hello, Ruth. Construction and rain. What a winning combination. Hope the guys don't have to come in and out of the house. I know how much you miss the doggies. I love the thought of travelling but sure don't like to be away from my pups for long. Have a great day in Kingston and I hope you get to treat yourself while you're there.

Hi Cottage. Have a great day. I would be very excited to go shopping for clothes that are smaller. Glad you're laptop is user friendly. I had a virus and I got a bit panicky because my security software wasn't getting rid of it. I'm more careful after my scare.

Mornin', Cyndi. Have a great drive knowing it's your weekend soon. Enjoy your healthy lunch. One of my greatest thrills right now is to try new eateries that specialize in healthy cuisine.

Chelby, glad to hear K went well. Is Auston excited? Scary shows are too much for me. I have to go into another room. Wish I could pack up. I will some day. How exciting to have a visit from Schmoodle.

Cat, how was your visit?

Sophie, I hope you finished your project. I'm putting the finishing touches on mine this morning.

Our Thursday has already been Thrilling even before the crack of dawn. We took the dogs out while we and they were really cruising the yard. Rudi even went out to the edge of the wall on the street side which he knows he isn't supposed to do. After they had run to the back we were very suprised to have a visit from a black bear hopping up for a yard cruise. He hopped right back down when he saw us. I suppose he wanted to remind Kirk he doesn't need to go to Alaska to see a bear! Last year a mountain lion cruised through while we were outside.

A shot of adrenelin with my coffee this morning. I'm ready for the day. Kirk has to be at the airport tonight at 7 so we'll stay close to home, pick berries and hang with the dogs.

I used the electric pressure cooker yesterday to cook a whole chicken. It worked well and I am excited to have this new addition to my SB kitchen. 45 minutes from start to finish for a 4 1/2 pound bird opens new possibilities. I have been buying my chx from Costco. They sell Coleman Organic ethically raised birds for $2.29/# but you have to buy 2. I think I'll start cooking them both when I buy them and then freeze the finished product.

I guess I'll go get the house picked up so I can proceed with my day in a bit more organized fashion.

Contractor Paul was here before seven and his merry men arrived before 8. Right now I have a huge concrete truck stuck on the front lawn. I took a couple of pictures and am now getting out of the way so the crew can swear if they like. It's the kind of stuck that will take more than a shovelful of kitty litter to solve. The wheels are huge and sure spray muck when they spin!
I live in exciting times!

Ruth, I don't know if sitting outside would be considered "thrilling," but I certainly think picking out floors and fixtures is! Have a great time! Hope you can treat yourself to a movie, too. If you haven't seen UP, you should check it out. The doggie antics will have you piddling in your pants! (for those who have seen it, "SQUIRREL!!!")

Cottage, I hope you really mean it when you say looking at the books will be fun. Not my cup of tea, but I'm glad there are people out there for whom it is! Hope your shopping isn't rushed!

Have a great lunch, Cyndi!

Chelby, I remember having those dreams when I was a kid! I woke up one morning last winter sitting in wet and was terrified that I'd had an accident; turns out it wasn't me--it was the dog. Not sure which of those scenarios is better. I'm so jealous that Schmoodle is coming to your class! Wish I could come! I've never watched True Blood, but I heard an interview with Anna Paquin (of Piano fame) who plays Sookie. She was talking about the scene in which she had to drink Bill's blood to restore herself. Get this: because of some diet she was on, they offered her "Low Carb" blood for that scene and she took it. Only in Hollywood!

Debbie, that's a heck of a morning wake-up! I had some trouble with viruses/trojan horses/malware last year on our laptop. I went to www.majorgeeks.com forums (they work just like this one does--same software) and got a lot of help. Here's the page with info on how to clean your computer (and get the logs you need to share with their techs for free help on what's wrong). They also have a page on how to protect yourself. I now use two programs (I run them about once a week) to get rid of the stuff my antivirus program doesn't catch. It has kept my computer sparkly clean and virus-free for almost 7 months now. Here they are (both free!):

Spybot - Search & Destroy
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Hope that helps!

to all the chicks who posted while I was writing this epistle...

I didn't ride my bike to work today--I had a really heavy box I needed to bring in to work. But it's a beautiful day after yesterday's downpours.

DH taught me how to run on the treadmill Monday night and we're planning on doing it again tonight. There's a 5K at the end of August that I'd love to do together, so am considering this "training," even though at this rate, I'm still going to be walking a lot of it. Still, it's fun and it gets DH in the gym!

Have a great day, chicas!

Hey y'all! I haven't been AWOL this week.. I'm still alive.. but now I'm a grandmother! Saturday morning my daughter woke saying she didn't feel good at all... so after having mild contractons when they got harder I took her to the hospital.. they sent her home after a couple of hours saying it was probably false labor.. well after a few more hours of her crying and writhing in pain.. we went back and she was 4 cm and in hard labor! well little Aubrey was born Sunday morning.. and was having a lot of trouble breathing... but after being under oxygen for a couple of days and getting IV antibiotics.. she's been off oxygen for a couple of days and is going home today! YAY!! she is absolutely amazing! no one could walk by the special care nursery with out stopping to stare for a little while!
well I just wanted you all to know that I hadn't just abandoned my chicks!
Even tho this weeks been really messed up.. I have done my best to stick as close to plan as I could.. so as things settle down, I can just continue on as usual!
well.. i'm gonna finish my strawberry smoothie! I'll be back later

Mr. Whited has been CONVICTED of Sodomy in the 1st Degree! He's going to LIKE the Big House! Hooray for our side. I hope our girl sleeps sweetly tonight. She deserves it.

Debbie, Auston is so excited about Kindergarten. He's so big and has grown up way too fast.

Phins, Congratulations Grandma! I'm glad she's doing well and going home. No more sleep for Mom.
