New day and new work week and the last week of the month! I am starting to feel we've not had a summer. Maybe August will be better? Say yes, please.
I'm up early this morning to greet the day and my construction guys. It seems so strange to not have a morning greeting from the dogs and the house seems so empty. I'm sure the quiet will disappear when the lads arrive at seven!
The Fair ended at ten last night and the trucks ran all night hauling out the midway rides. I sure heard them as my AC is living in the barn for a while and I had to have my windows open. It was pretty muggy. There is lots of clean-up to do today and financial tallying as well. It'll be an early bedtime tonight.
I've no idea what this week will bring but know it will be noisy and somewhat nerve-wracking around here. Perhaps I should have checked myself into the kennel for the week!
Hi Ruth, I wish I could say this predominant weather pattern would change. In Colorado we always hope for an Indian Summer. Is that phrase only used here? I know you must miss the pups terribly. I can only hope this phase of your project goes quickly and that the rest can be little more than a minor inconvenience. Wishful thinking, I suppose, so I hope for you a moment of peace during this last Monday in July.
We have our usual busy day here. Headed to the raspberries first thing, then down to meet DD for a tour of Coors Brewery. I'll say no thanks to beer, but the tour is quite fascinating. I'll stop at a bead store along the way to get a bit of assistance with the charm bracelet I'm finishing to give DD today. My main "motivation" in all this is to stay OP. That's about it.
I look forward to hearing from all of you.
Barb-what a score on the clothes. It seems things always have a way of working out!
Ruth, hope the construction goes smoothly. If you don't count on it going smoothly, then I guess the aggrivation factor won't be as great! How long is it supposed to take? Oh, I remember the summer I had the kitchen in my former house remodeled. They told me 2 weeks....turned into 3.5 months. Then they tried to bill me extra because they did something "fancier" than I wanted one day. They supposedly had some costly materials "left over" from another job and decided to use them when I was at work and therefore did NOT authorize it. Fancy molding around my big kitchen window. The guy told me it was "on the house" since they were taking a lot longer than they had told me it would take. Then at the end of the job when I payed the last 1/3, they added about 2K to my bill for the fancy molding. I refused to pay it because I had not authorized it and wrote them a check for the remaining balance on the contract. When I hired them I told them I only had X amount to spend and could not go one penny over that. The wife of the contractor had a child at the school where I was teaching and came to pick up the child one day and started yelling at me in front of kids, teachers and other parents about "Paying my bills" when she saw me out on bus duty. Not a smart move considering I KNEW they lived out of district and had "snuck" their kid into the school using a fake address (that was just a vacant lot). Nope, not too smart at all.
Debbie, fruit and beer and jewelery...sounds like the perfect day to me! When I lived in Olympia, Wa., I lived down the street from a brewery..oh, the hops smelled so yummy baking in the morning!

Morning all I lack motivation so might need to start my own thread - Muttering Monday?
Ruth - Good luck with the construction and with the shirts I hope the weather holds so it goes quickly.
Debbie - Sounds like a fun day.
Cat - It's so nice seeing you in the mornings again
Cottage - hope you're not having internet problems again!
Schmoodle - Is there coffee this morning?
I'm so not motivated this morning. Between being in the office all day today and just feeling like the summer is passing me by this year I'm just ready to go back to bed. The big thunderstorm in the middle of the night probably didn't help
Ok-truth be told. I'm not having much motivation here this morning. After reading your post Cyndi , I have a plan. Sit outside with Lexxiss and . Then get dressed and get something done. This bathrobe thing just isn't working today. ETA-get dressed THEN sit outside!
Cat, have a great day. Personally, although I like both beer and coffee, the aroma of either process has never thrilled me. Funny, in our little town here which is 3 miles long and 3 blocks wide, we have both. Fortunately, I'm usually upwind from both. It's funny thinking of the association we have with smells. Plumeria takes me to Hawaii every time.

Reason: ETA
Ruth - oh...sounds quiet (initially anyway!). Hope it goes by quick!
Lexiss - Good luck being OP today! The beer would be NO temptation to me, but probably an interesting tour!
Cat - one word: PSYCHO!!! Crazy. Maybe the dear husband left out the fact that you didn't authorize it?!? We're getting estimates for our kitchen as we type...you're scaring me!!
Cyndi - I hear ya on the lack of motivation bit!! Good luck with work today!
Me - I've got to do some cutting back on the food!! Now that things are settling down, I should do better. It was hard to get motivated to plan ahead. Last night, I used my ham to make a ham lentil soup (it's warm out, but it still sounded good!!), and I'll make some tuna canellini salad sometime too. It's really not hard to stay on plan when you plan ahead...and no cravings to be bad!!
We just got back from seeing the in-laws too in NC...wow, I don't miss that heat and humidity! The SIL took us out on the boat near the ocean (an unexpected surprise!), which the kids LOVED. "go faster, go faster!!!", which the BIL happily obliged. Now, back to work. So sad.
Have to admit, I'm not big on motivation either! My mom always said I got bad cases of "Monday Morning Blues" when I was a kid. Guess I still get them.
Ruth, I hope your construction goes smoothly and quickly. In Alabama, the AC leaving would not happen!
Debbie, What do you mean by Indian Summer? I've heard of it, but probably never experienced it. Have fun with DD!
Cat, My SIL teaches at a County high school. Birmingham City kids try to sneak in. If a kid is a troublemaker, the principal will go visit their address to make sure they are in district. If not, they are gone!
Cyndi, My summer is passing me by, too. This job is cramping my style!
Twynn! I missed you! Your boat ride sounds great!
Me: I don't know what today holds. The Therapist is on VAC this week, so the office will be quiet.
I had a bad dream last night and woke up mad at my husband because of it. Don't you love doing that?
We'll, I'm already running 15 minutes behind this morning. Hope it's no indicator for my day... Happy Monday!
Good morning, everyone! Nice to see everyone up and at least chatting!
Ruth: Enjoy watching the lads work...er...I mean enjoy seeing the progress those construction men will be making! I hope this is all over soon, but I know you'll enjoy the result.
Lexxiss: A tour of a brewery would be really interesting; I'm sure my DH would love it! I'm not big on beer, but he sure is. I hope everything is enjoyable and here's some for staying OP!
Cat: How terrible! At least they "got theirs". DH and I are considering a bathroom remodel next year and will be hiring out, but stories like that scare me sometimes. Maybe I should just call one of those design shows on tv and see if they'll do it! Have a wonderful day!
Cyndi: I hope your day gets better...I'll send you the coffee I didn't drink this morning!
Twynn: I agree; planning ahead really makes all the difference in how I eat. I'm glad you had a nice time in NC; my dad's family is from there and I really miss our vacations to go visit.
Chelby: I do that to DH all the time. Most of the time, he can tell before I even say a word. He'll look at me and say, "what terrible thing did I do in your subconscious this time?" Luckily for him, I hardly ever remember. Have a wonderful day!
Me: Day 1 of P1 for me. I've had a gradual climb back up into the 180's and I'm not liking it. I'll be doing P1 for two weeks and modifying the intensity of my workout, too, and then I'll move on to P2 as prescribed after that. I'm going to be a good girl and be realistic this time. No big loss on P1 is fine, as long as I come out of it cravings-free. My goal for the next two weeks is 3 lbs.
Other than that, it's just work and some things around the house. I do need to replant some herbs for the bay window and I may get out in the veggie garden and weed a bit. Dinner tonight is leftovers, so I should have plenty of time to get it all done.
Okay, I need to go wash up the dishes so I can head to work! Hope everyone to come has a great day!!!
Good title, Ruth, I am motivated this morning. I've had my walk already, hung out two loads of wash, and am enjoying a really good strawberry smoothie and COFFEE.
I feel ready to get back to work (ugh). Lots to do this week, as I am away in Huntsville all next week, and I've got everybody's dentist appts scheduled this week.
Lexxis, I love factory tours, that sure sounds fun. Cat, did you rat them out? I would have. Cyndi, yes there is thanks, and it is soooo good. Summer is flying by, but I don't mind because it's so hard to work when the kids are around all day. I'm ready for fall! Twynn, sounds like you had a fun trip. Thanks for reminding me, I want to try Kierie's tuna muffins this week. Hmmm, wonder where she is? I'll have to facebook stalk her. Chelby, Happy Monday. By the way, I love to use those eightball zukes for stuffing. They are sooo good. I did a bunch last year, wrapped them individually, and froze them. I haven't seen them at the Farmer's market yet this year, but I've missed the last two weeks.
Well, since it's almost 9AM, I guess I'd better face my work inbox. I think I've forgotten my password (only a week and it's gone!), so I'd better get to work on that too.
ETA, hi Kim! I'm Ph1ing too this week, except for berries. They never give me cravings in moderation, and I just bought a bunch of blueberries I want to eat.
I'm wearing one of my new lightweight denin shirts this morning and loving it. It seems SO strange to look in my closet and see all these clothes (dresses, skirts, pants, capris, shorts, shirts and sweaters in all arm lengths). I'll tell you ladies this is a full wardrobe including 5 swimsuits and I don't know how many pair of shoes. I am so lucky. I'm off to bra shopping today after I finish getting the house and pool put back after the party. I have two coolers full of drinks to go back in the garage fridge but I pulled my back yesterday morning so I waited on doing that.
Good morning! I had an extremely crazy weekend so I wasn't able to pop on and say hello. I had a rough weekend diet wise full of some good choices and some bad choices. It is now Monday morning and I am back in the SBD mindset and ready to tackle the next week. Not much on the agenda today...cleaning and playing with the boys.
Ruth - Good luck with the construction. I hope everything goes smoothly and quick.
Lexiss- Sounds like you have a fun day ahead of you.
Cyndi - I hope your Monday goes better for you!
Twynn - The humidity up here has definitely been brutal the past few days. I am glad you enjoyed your vacation in NC though.
Chelby - Gotta love dreams like that! I hope your days runs smoothly.
Kim - Good luck on your two weeks. You will do great!
Barb - YAY for a closet full of clothes.
I am trying to stir up some energy to walk on the treadmill. So, I am going to sign off and put on my running shoes.
Chelby, I just do like I was stuffing green peppers - ground meat, brown rice, tomato sauce, cheese, other veggies. Just hollow them out from the top (stem) end, and cut a little slice in the bottom if you need to so they will sit up straight. They are just too cute. I think I also did a Mexican one - taco meat, rotels, cheese, and rice.
Schmoodle, did I rat them out??? oh, Honey, you KNOW I did!
Went straight to the principal's office and sang like a bird.
They were history...they then had to pay to go to the private school in town since they didn't want their child at the public school in the town where they actually lived.
I'm a very nice person, but don't cross me and not expect revenge!!
I hit 'em in the pocket book...

Good for you Cat!
Oh my gosh, it's not really that hot, only around 90, but it's so muggy I'm literally dripping sweat. I am so headed for the pool as soon as I'm done working. Hopefully the storms will hold off until I get a swim in.
