While I'm far from thin, I am very thankful today for a new WOL that allows me to feel good and have hope that one day I may be.
I'm up early (what's new) but this morning with a list that would fill a page. Kirk leaves for Alaska 1 week from tonight and I've upped our departure from here to Saturday. Lots to do and still fit in all my fun stuff. The coffee is ready so I'm going to indulge and pit cherries until you all get here.
What's up in your world today?
Before I get pitting, I must close on yesterdays' saga. I only had 1 SPF. The truth, it wasn't so much willpower but cheapness. I had a spectacular lunch out with another team member after visiting the nursing home. I had a locally grown soup and salad. Mmmm..By the time I got to the "social" the wine was flowing and apps were being ordered. Last year I felt obligated to put in way more$$ than I wanted. It was a great reason not to eat. I declined the wine and chose not to participate in the ordering of food. ..and politely bowed out when the food arrived.
I'm tired this morning as I worked 3 to 9 at the Fair doing Homecraft Registrations with just a half hour break to run home and potty the dogs. I grabbed a quick PB and cucumber sandwich at the same time so was able to avoid the deadly Fair food.
This morning I will be making the rounds of the Township picking up the $$$ from the advance sales of ride passes - $23 in advance and $30 now that the Fair is open. I may take along a fierce dog to guard me and the moola! I hope to have that all done by noon and have the afternoon to myself as there's nothing I'm scheduled to do. I suspect that may change but I do hope to get some plants moved.
So...another busy day. Right now, after coffee, I'm going to prep some veggies to have on hand for munching at noon. It's way too easy to grab a hot dog or something equally off plan.
Debbie - Want to know a secret? I'm actually thin for the first time EVER. Gotta love this WOL. Congratulations on the sweet potato challenge. Have you made your own at home? I know lots of people do eat their own homemade fries. I'd almost forgotten but we ate lots of turnip fries last year - those are good for that fry craving too. Now we are so hooked on roasted cauliflower and broccoli that they fill that niche
Good luck working through that list. Hope you get plenty of breaks for things you enjoy.
Ruth - Wow, good save with the sandwich. Sounds like an exhausting day. I hope today will offer you more time for relaxing and being off your feet.
Today is my Friday, certainly a good thing. I've got a visit this afternoon and then a massage. If the weather cooperates I'm going to get a walk in between the two because they are both in the same town and I should have an hour in between. The morning will be all paperwork and follow-up on the other visits from the week.
Yesterday I made a plan for the afternoon food crazies. I ate a serving of chick pea crunchies and some veggies and then went for a walk. Then I made a veggie packed dinner and all was well. That seems to work better than white knuckling it through the late afternoon.
We seem to be back in a regular rain cycle, not quite as bad as June. I hope it dries out enough to get my fall garden going this weekend.
Thin. When that day finally gets here, I'll be very thankful! But, in the meantime, I have to try to figure out why I keep delaying that day. At least I am thankful that my eating habits have changed dramatically and the day will come when I can consider myself "thin".
It's looking pretty cloudy and the humidity is awful. The girls have swim lessons at the country club this afternoon, so I hope the weather makes up it's mind what it's going to do. And I hope the girls have recovered from the past few days of excitement, too. They were pretty tired and grumpy yesterday, and their mood wore off on me. But after a couple hours of downtime in the afternoon, we all felt much better.
I'm hoping my book on Solar Dehydrating comes today. I hope to have a bounty of cucumbers, zucchini and tomatoes very soon from my garden, and I want to have the dehydrator all set to go.
Good morning! I had a wonderful time at the lake with the boys yesterday! It was a beautiful day to be there. I also had my doctor's appointment and they took about 8 vials of blood. I guess she wanted to do a bunch of tests to determine why I have been feeling so run down. I will get the results some time next week.
Today, I am probably just laying low and then I go to my weight loss group to see how I did this week.
Lexiss - Good for you for only having one sweet potato! It must feel so wonderful to have been able to resist!
Ruth - Have a fun day!
Cyndi - Good planning for your food. It is wonderful how we can make the right choices with just a little planning.
Mornin', Ruth. I feel for you.. It's one thing to be busy and another to be running from one thing to the next..and next..I wish I could visit your fair. Our state fair is 200 miles away and with the doggies we just don't go. Good idea preplanning your food. Fair food is double trouble-bad for the body and pocketbook. Have a great day!
Cyndi, I'll probably pick your brain this fall for some recipes. It's not too hot to cook, but too hot to shop and I get so much fresh that we can hardly eat it. Our CSA gave us 5 zucchini-"zucchini larceny". Good on your plan to keep your snacking in check. Have a lovely day!
Hi Cottage. It sounds like a few of us could use a winddown day. Hint- tomorrow's Friday. I, too, hope that someday I will be "thin" and being thankful for a WOL is part of the process. We're all awaiting your report on the Solar Dehydrator. Have a great day.
My3, I hope for you a little bit of R & R. Good luck at your meeting
I forgot to mention I tried a recipe from Sunset mag for a peanut butter energy bar . I put some of our newly dried cherries in and I have to say I'm thinking of baking and bagging them individually for our big fundraiser in the fall. I've been baking for quite some time and don't recall being so impressed with myself. I will post the recipe, but not today. What is cool is that the recipe includes modifications for almond butter and tahini.
Morning all! Sounds like everyone had a pretty good day yesterday and I hope today is fun for you all!
I am so drained right now that personals aren't an option. Yesterday was a horrendously emotional day and I feel like a slug today. Beau's girlfriend and I cried all day long (bless his heart, he was back and forth hugging and smiling at us poor pitiful girls!) It was like we were waiting to leave for a funeral. Then I remembered that our new target store had a "soft opening" and I suggested we just go walk around for a while and that helped some. Beau wanted some nutter butters and we talked about how I used to make "ghosts" out of them when he was little during Halloween.
The airport was another crying fest. We both said we would not cry, but did anyway! At least the boy knows he is loved! I took some pics when we went out to eat with (my husband's) family last week and at the airport. None of them are that good. Having trouble with my camera. Sounds like a perfect excuse to get another one in a couple of months, huh?

Good morning Cottage Can't wait to hear about that dehydrator! Here's to a relaxing, mellow day for all today.
my3sons - Good luck with the blood work. 8 vials is a whole lot of blood! Have you posted menus too, just in case? It's good that you are being cautious and checking in with the dr., just in case. It must be tough keeping up with three kiddos when you start out exhausted
Debbie - I'm looking forward to that recipe. I'd love to get DP off the prepackaged protein bars. The numbers may be good but I think they are little more than enhanced candy bars. I wonder if I could add protein powder to the recipe to make her happy? I think we are eating zucchini 1-2 meals every day right now Good thing we love it! I've got to pick up some big ones again and get that dehydrator going.
Cat Hope today is easy on the Mama heart
Apparently the orioles are not impressed with the mango fruit spread but the catbirds love it. I think I'll put some grape out on my way out this morning.
Chelby - bite your tongue! I'm getting married 9/13 and fall is not allowed to arrive until after that Hope today is a great day and the little one cheers up!
Just wanted to drop in real quick busy day today before leaving for CA tomorrow. We are interviewing today for a position and have to get everything else done as well.
My DD1 is 16 today, she is so excited about getting her Drivers License. I am going to have a small family birthday party for her tonight. She is going to have a sleepover with her friends in a couple of days.
Debbie, I have cherry pitting on my list for today, too! Does anyone know if Rainier cherries freeze well?
I'm so sorry it was such a hard day, Cat. Love that you did therapy at Target. It's my favorite place and always cheers me up!
Oh, Cyndi, you have a wedding day set! I'm so happy for you and DP...and a Fall wedding in your part of the country will be SOOOO gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see the photos! (hint, hint...)
Didn't bike to work...it was really wet out. Looks like it'll be fairly rainy all day, so I'm declaring it a girly day for me and planning to paint my toenails and do some journaling while cuddling with the puppy--after I get home from work and go to the gym, of course.
Hey, everyone! Just a quick check-in this morning. I gave the girls piles of tedious work to do this morning, so it would be pretty mean of me to slack off all day! I'm working my way back through the book and getting geared up for P1 on Monday!
Congrats, Cyndi on setting a date! Can't wait to see pics/hear stories about how it all goes!!!
