Analog scales are more precise. Digital scales can vary from hour to hour. I must admit though that I use a digital scale

I like digital because I like to see the tenths of a pound.

Digital. If you buy a pretty decent one (a little more expensive) They don't vary like some other scales do. I paid $30 for my digital WW scale and it weighs me consistently. Even if I switch it from room to room.

I like digital scales for the tenths of a pound as well.
Plus, expensive digital scales still vary slightly from hour to hour, because your body weight DOES vary from hour to hour based on your intake of food, liquids, and.. *loud cough* whether you've been to the bathroom lately.

have you changed the battery and keep it in a level area on the floor? Usually mine will act up if it needs a new battery

Most scales are a bit different from each other. Ten lbs is a bit extreme, but my guess would be that it's probably the analog scale that's off.

My guess:
I'm not sure if this makes sense, but if it's anything like a car's speedometer... if you ever take a GPS into a car with you that accurately tracks how fast you're going, you might notice that your car's speedometer is in total agreement with the GPS until it hits a higher speed. Suddenly, the car will say you're going 80 and the GPS says you're only going 73... the GPS is always right. It's like.. the more speed, the less accurate and sensitive your speedometer is to the actual speed you're going.

I would presume that the scales would be the same when you did the little test, putting a few lbs on each... but when you put MORE weight on, one of the scales becomes less sensitive to the actual weight on it, and thus is inaccurate. Inaccurate by ten lbs!

I think your best bet is to choose one scale, forget about the other one... and stick to the number on it. Even if it's not totally perfect, you're still seeing losses based on it.

I like digital better, myself... I just have some cheap $20 one that doesn't do anything special.

Well, if one scale is off by 10lbs at your weight (~300) it may be consistently off by 3.33%. So if you were to put a 10lb weight on it, it would only be off by 0.33lb, which might not be easy to see on the analog or even be reflected in the number on the digital (does it weigh in tenths or halves of pounds?)

I agree with Jelbb, I'd just choose one and go with it to keep things simple.
