Default Today didn't go quite as planned.

Started out well with a bowl of porridge (oatmeal) for breakfast, and lunch wasn't too bad being a jacket potato with smoked salmon and lowfat cream cheese, but then the 'nibbles' started. and once that starts it's 'piggy in the trough time'!. I'm not proud of myself and yet again I can't see the point in beating myself up either. I know I blew it but tomorrow is another day and wait for this, my husband has come up with a great idea to help me.

This is his idea. I open up a savings account in my name and for every 1lb I lose he will put in £10 then once I've lost a stone (14lb) I can withdraw £100 to spend on clothes, make up hair, beauty treatments, whatever I want as long as it is for me, this will happen for every stone I lose until I reach my goal weight he will then buy me a nice little second hand car! The remaining money in my account will go to The National Autistic Society. Then the account will be closed.

Nicki, you're absolutely right that it's not worth it to beat yourself up over a setback. It happens to all of us and it doesn't mean we've screwed up for life. It's just a setback and setbacks are a necessary part of the process .

Your husband's idea is a great one. I might just start to put some money aside for every pound I lose for a shopping spree.

I think having non food rewards is great. Personally mine is jewelry for every goal I meet. Its nice to look and pick stuff out ahead of time gives me something to work for.

Just remember Nicki, every day you blow it is another day of being fat. I know it's hard to get going, and there is always tomorrow, but eventually our days run out. Diabetes and heart diseases don't give a rats behind about tomorrow. Hopefully your hubby's idea will be motivation, (until commitment sets in). I'm assuming you have someone important in your life with autism, and you need to be around a good long time for him/her. That alone is what keeps *ME* committed.

I saved money the first several months of my weight-loss. I figured I was spending $50 a week on junk food, booze and smokes, so every week I put $50 in my sock drawer for a goal weight shopping spree. When I got to $1000 I open a 15 month CD. It will mature in September...just in time for fall clothes!

Please don't give up. TRY with all your might. Come on, you can do this.
