Smile Hello all

Hello all:

I found this friendly supportive site while I was web surfing, and I decided I'd like to join in your discussions, as I do suffer from being overweight. It's good to have support - it helps in all aspects of life! So I thank you all in advance for any support you can give me.

I need to buy a scale and weigh myself. I'm scared to do it, but I think hiding in my shame and embarrassment won't make the shame and embarrassment go away - it just means I'm not dealing with it. Losing a lot of weight (which I need to do) seems so overwhelming, but losing a little at a time, and not being totally totally banned from the foods I so enjoy ( and really, I think food is a joy of life, and banning myself from foods I like entirely will only make me crave them - and of course eat them a lot!) is realistic for me.

So thanks for you all. I look forward to checking back often with you all.

Welcome

Yup first thing's first get a decent scale (doesn't have to cost a fortune there are some cheap digital ones out there) and weigh in, then decide what works for you

For me the best thing was slow changes, once the junkfood was gone I stopped buying it, then I started to work out more, then I cut out anything that wasn't water pretty much. The slow changes have made for permanent weight loss.

Oh and you don't have to be perfect- making a "mistake" doesn't mean binge for the rest of the day, not working out one day doesn't mean quit working out and so on. It's progress not perfection! Good luck.
