Default OT: Hair question (accessories)

Hi everyone!

I'm getting married in September, and I think I am going to do my own hair. Large hot rollers and then clip it half up and a veil... I'm getting married on a Sunday afternoon and there are no hair places open and it's SO expensive to have someone come in to do hair.

Anyway... I have hot rollers and I just bought another set (I have a TON of hair). But I don't like those little metal clips and I've been watching youtube videos on hot rollers and I really like those hot roller claw clips. I found some online, but I was wondering WHERE I could buy those out at a store. I had no luck at walmart or target.

If anyone has any tips that would be fantastic!

A salon/beauty supply store may have them (you can check here if there's a Sally Beauty Supply near you, that's the only one I've ever been in, and I think one of the most affordable)... but those stores aren't always the cheapest, so you may still be better off buying them online and paying a couple bucks in shipping. Or was there another reason you'd rather buy them in a bricks-and-mortar store?

Ulta - its a beauty supply store - they have a frequent customer club thing (free to join) and I believe you get discounts if you spend so much. Also, they usually have people on the premises that will show you/tell you the best way to use things.

There is a Sally Hair supply store down the block from me and I never knew it... You don't have to be a cosmetologist to purchase things right?

Oh a fun tip for your makeup. If you have a sephora around they do entirely free makeovers with makeup. You just call and make an appointment, then of course they encourage you to buy a product... but make an appt. on your wedding day morning, and get your makeup done free!

Risky though cuz it may not be just what you like, but they seem to always do a great job when I'm there They listen well. I went for my prom, told them I was just trying to get ideas for my prom make up (which was a lie, I was just wearing it straight to prom after, haha), told them my colors and what I was looking for. It looked beautiful!

Just an idea

I was going there to buy make up and have them give me tips, but I wonder if there is a mall near me and I could just go there before my wedding... good idea!

If you have a mall near you and there is a JCPenney in the mall, check to see if they have a salon! I work in a JCP Salon and we're open 12-6 on Sundays!

Take a friend with you, too. A creative one that can help you. I know that for me, at least, I can do a fantastic job doing other people's hair, but when I try to do my own fancy updo, it doesn't quite work out.

Just a quick thought...

I don't know if you have any beauty schools in your area, but they are a great option. Even if you did a consult, and an actual appointment, it would only be around 30 dollars total. When I was in hair school, we would always get clients who were coming in either as the bride, or bridal party. And a lot of the time, the receptionist who books appointments will be able to recommend a certain student who is particularly good or known for their up-dos. Paul Mitchell the School is a great place to check out, if you've got one in your area!
