Smile Newbie!

Just joined last night! My DH is deploying in a couple weeks and my goal is to lose at least 60 pounds while he's goneeek: which to me seems like a HUGE mountain to climb. I'm ready to be happy with my body and when my husband gets home I want to be proud to show it off to him, instead of ashamed. I'm glad I found this board, cause I'll definitely need the support. I'm looking forward to getting to know yall!

Welcome to 3FC! How long is your husband deployed for? 60 pounds is a lot and wish you the best of luck, but remember, losing safely is more important then losing quickly. What's the point of doing all the work if it'll come back after some crazy crash diet is over?

I am quite close to you, My husband is navy civilian so I never have to deal with him being deployed, he works at Sub Base Bangor.

Again, welcome and post lots around here, it's a great forum with tons of advice, support and just good people! Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome! DH will be gone a year if he doesn't get extended, and I thought a year would be a decent length of time to lose the weight. I definitely won't be doing any crash diets I've recently started trying to focus just on eating healthy (whole grains, more fruits and veggies, less junk) and eating less in general. This should be better without DH around, because that man can eat like there's no tomorrow and not gain an ounce.

At any rate, it's nice to see another northwesterner!

Wow, That sounds like a great plan! 60 pounds in a year is totally doable! I calorie count/gym twice a week/walking/jogging 1.3 miles a few times a week. My weight loss has stalled because I wasn't eating enough and it caught up to me by draining energy and slowing my weight loss down to zilch. Very annoying, but I'm working on getting my metabolism back in order.

I do love the northwest, no place I'd rather be. Supposed to be close to 90 this weekend, Yay!

Nice to meet you, feel free to PM me anytime.

Thanks I have a friend coming to live with me for a bit, and we want to try doing the couch to 5k thing. I've always wanted to be a runner but never had the stamina for it. My mom wants to lose about the same amount of weight, and she needs to because she's type I diabetic, so when we both lose it we're rewarding ourselves with a trip to New York.
