Default welcome back fatty

good morning ladies!!!

it's been a long time since i've been on here and i've gained just about all my weight back.

i feel bad but i kno dat i gotta get it together.

coming on here 3yrs ago was the only thing that kept me going. i can honestly say this site is the reason i lost the weight the first time.

i'm not sure how to lose weight by eating healthy, i've always depended on diet pills and just not eating. i've never excerised on a regular basis. this time i would like to do it the right way and keep the weight off.

if anyone can offer me an inexpensive eating plan, i've love to hear it. i've got a gym membership through my job but i never go because it's always packed with MEN and women and that makes me a little insecure.

i'm single with no kids so i don't cook much, right now i'm working 10 hour days four days a week. i get home about 6pm each evening and usually just fix a sandwich, lay on the couch and watch tv until bedtime. i'm on a tight budget so i try to spend a less as possible.

okay enough about my boring life...have a great day ladies and thanks for listening!

Friends don't let friends pound gross diet pills. Stop THAT right now.

ALSO, when you don't eat, one of a few things can happen. Either, you're so effectively anorexic that your body eats your fat and you lose weight (yay!) and then wind up passing out walking down the street one day because your body doesn't have the nutrients to function (yay-- I mean.. wait, what?)... or, you don't eat, and then your body goes into "starvation mode." It thinks you don't have food available, so every time you DO eat, your body packs away as much crap as possible in the form of fat. It's very counter-productive.

Eating healthily can be tough, but you need to come up with a system that works for you.

I follow a simple calories-in-calories-out method, where I find foods that I love that are simply low in calories. It means I can give myself treats sometimes, so long as I work them into my calorie budget of 1,200-1,500 calories a day. Depending upon your height and weight, your own calorie budget may vary. (This website can calculate how many calories you may want to aim for.)

If you decide to go the calorie route, which is a lot more feasible long-term than trying desperately to CUT certain things (Carbs) out of your diet, start by reading the nutritional labels of the food you're eating, and paying special attention to the number of calories you're taking in. See how many you eat in a single (normal) day. The Daily Plate is a good place to look up how many calories are in the foods you eat that don't come with nutritional labels.

I know what you mean about the gym being packed with guys and it making you uncomfortable. I went to a gym called "Exclusively Women's" in my uni town... it made me feel SO much more comfortable using the weight room when there were no men power-lifting in the corner, staring at their muscles in the mirror.
Do you have much room at home? Maybe you could invest in a workout video? Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred is SWORN BY for a lot of the ladies here. Lately I've been going for evening runs around a high school track near by when no one's around. Maybe there's somewhere like that around?
Even throwing on an mp3 player and going for a walk is better than NOTHING, so on days where I simply can't be bothered to change into workout clothes... I just take one of my doggies for a walk. It may not be the power workout of the century, but I'm burning calories, and that's what's important.

Stick around here, and check in with us regularly! It'll help ya stay motivated! Good luck honey!!!

thanks you so much jelbb...

i don't have very many friends and i forgot how much it helps to get support from someone.

i have an air-walker at home, i don't use it much but i know that will probably be my first step since i can do it at home with no one looking but precious (my chog) and she's scared of it so she run's in the bedroom.

thanks for all the help!!!

Hey, welcome to my world. I just made a whole thread about how I moved home from university, and all my friends are still off in their respective uni towns, or they're getting jobs in the big city, or whatever. It's very frustrating to be back in my hometown with only a few people I actually consider FRIENDS.

And even then, they're not the kind of people who are good for weightloss support.

Kudos to the air-walker, I'd definitely start using that! Keep us updated on how things are going, eh? Post in the weekly chat, and or the weigh-in: gain or loss? thread. We wanna keep tabs on how you're doing, good OR bad!!

ana- A good place to start is simply going for a walk daily. Start out slow and maybe walk for 10 minutes for a whole week. Then, increase time/distance every week. The first step to a workout program is to make it a habit.

Then, food. Food plans are so broad. Each plan focuses on something different. i think the best overall plan is to eat "clean". No fast food, processed foods, refined grains and sugars..... basically just meat, dairy, fruits and veggies. I encourage you to look around and find a plan that will work for you.

Lastly, please stop calling yourself "Fatty". You are beautiful! You need to start loving yourself. No more negative self talk. Please visit operationbeautiful.com. Have a super day!

This is an out-there suggestion, but why not cancel your cable and buy a membership to Curves (women's gym) instead?

Well, you know you've got at least 3 days a week to work out. What about lunch breaks? Could you go for a walk on a lunch break and then eat something real quick? Since you live on your own counting calories should be easy. I bet if you stuck with calorie counting and gave yourself 4 hours of exercise per week, you would see results. And no diet pills needed.
