Definitely ask your trainer to help you with weight training. It builds muscle mass which raises your metabolism and keeps you strong and toned. It can be dangerous to do it on your own if you've never done it before because it can cause injuries if you don't know what you're doing. If I had a personal trainer I'd think about more bang for my buck in getting him/her to help me with strength training and do cardio on my own. Or at least devote a little bit of your session to it if you need help with cardio.

I'm not sure why your trainer has not already started you on a strength training program? Did you request "cardio only" or is that a plan the trainer designed for you? If that is what the trainer has designed for you, I would probably recommend a new trainer. If that was your choice, then I'd say jump in and request strength training help

I actually think its coz he's lazy...lol
But for 5 bucks an hour what do you expect?
I needed him there just to get me off my butt and get moving but over the last few weeks Ive been motivated enough to do cardio on my own...So i will ask him to strength train as of tomorrow.
Thanks for the help!

$5 an hour? Is this a family member or something? Most personal trainers (or their gyms) charge $50-65/hr. Is this person qualified? I only ask because you will need a qualified instructor for strength training or else you might get a program that isn't suited to your needs.

Definitely start weight training. It will make muscles which we women need and the muscles will burn more calories at rest than having no muscles. If you're finding it hard to lose weight you may be on a plateau and weight training is just the key to rev up your metabolism and get your weighloss going again... I'm shocked that your PT hasn't gotten you onto WT yet... I'm also shocked at the price ...
