Do you reward yourself if you make a certain loss in weight? If you reward yourself what do you use to reward yourself and what is a good weight loss for a reward?
The reason of me asking this is because I was thinking of getting my nose pierced(something I want done) but only if I lose a certain amount of weight(like 30lbs or so, not sure on the amount). I don't want to make the goal too big of a weight loss number because I want to be realistic with myself. What seems realistic to you?
Jen I see that most people do "little" rewards for like 10 pounds but bigger goals like 25, 50,100, etc they do the "bigger" goals. My first 25 loss I got a tattoo but for 10 pounds I do like a CD, book, etc.
I haven't really gotten to a point where I've felt like rewarding myself.... YET!! LOL!
I have a date in my mind.... well, a time anyway... where I'd like to see some change. I have my 15-year class reunion next summer, and would LOVE to go there looking GOOD!!!! If I can get down to a good weight... I would love to get a tattoo
I have my first weight watchers meeting tomorrow.... so maybe after that I'll think about things more
I would like to reward myself, but what always happens is the goal gets met and I have no money! I don't set reward goals like that anymore, although I would like to get a small tattoo when I reach goal.
I pay myself a dollar a pound, and stick it in a little jar. A buck or two a week doesn't break DH and I, and I can either save up for a big reward or get a small one if my motivation needs it. I've got $15 so far, and I'm saving up for a music book I've been wanting - about $30. I'm like Jennelle, if I don't do it this way, I have no money when reward time rolls around!
I think you should reward yourself when you feel you have met a mini-goal and also a major goal. I think 30 lbs is a bigger goal, and getting your nose pierced would be a fine reward.
BTW, I'm getting my tattoo Aug 23, so you're more than welcome to come that day(a Friday), and I'm sure Jesse the piercer will be able to fit you in. Oh and did I mention that he is *real* easy on the eyes?
I think rewards are great when we've persevered in something ~ for me, just getting through the first week OP was a major accomplishment, so I treated myself to a manicure. (Boy does that make you feel pampered!!!)
Every victory is important and contributes to our long term outcomes! So, I say a great big yes!
Debbers - I like your idea! I get paid on Friday (our district pays us through the year, thank goodness!), so I will start by setting aside $18 for the 18 I've lost so far.
OP Means On Plan or On Program, so you are exactly right!
KNC- I missed this one too! Sheesh.. I'm horrible lately.
I am a FIRM believer in rewards. One of my BIGGEST dreams (haven't told my hubby yet) is to go take dance lessons with my hubby once I reach my final goal. I'd also love to renew our vows at 5 years... and how cool would it be to renew the vows in a teeny weeny wedding dress?? (sorry I have your idea too!)
I've set small rewards for myself and big rewards.
Examples: I set mini goals, and give myself charms when I get them. I have 4 charms so far, for my Easter goal, Losing 25 lbs, getting to my real 10% loss (I've lost 10% of my body weight), making my Mother's Day goal. I try to make the charms unique, and I'm really proud of my bracelet.
For my big goals I have things like when I hit 50 lbs I'm allowed to go shopping for some clothes... when I hit 100 lbs I might get another tatoo... or get my cartiledge (ear) pierced again... Big things like that.
I also allow myself to get a new DVD every 10 lbs I lose.
