Default HI, I'm new- I found my eating plan here in a sticky and I need support :)

HI, everyone!
My name's Mandy. I'm in my late 40's and I'm 40 pounds or so overweight. I found a 1100 calorie, low fat, great fresh diet gourmet delivery program from a sticky posted on the 3C's forum a week ago today. I called the company that day and ordered a week's worth of food.
I've never eaten so well in my life! THANK YOU!! I am so food phobic that I am afraid it won't work- that I won't lose weight again. The only drawback is the price... but we were spending that much eating out. Sigh.

I'm really scared, I hope this works because it surely is delicious. Most of the testimonials on the plan's website has people saying it's fresh, chef- prepared, and delicious but not many people say " I lost 45 pounds and am back in a bikini for the first time since I was 29 and had a baby" or stuff like we see on national TV. It kind of scares me not to see more about the weight lost vs the great taste.

I'm a diet drop-out. I threw up Medifast powdered eggs. I kept on with Medi-Fast until I was in the hospital with a potassium deficiency and an irregular heartbeat. Then I tried Nutri-System. I couldn't eat it. Too much goopy sauce and pasta and not enough real food. I stockpiled NS and finally boxed cabinets full of meals up and sent them to a friend in Tulsa. Now, she's 40 pounds thinner than I am.
I was on Jenny but I got so sick of the same food choices that I sort of liked that I just couldn't go back. And I have a lifetime membership to JC.
I lost 20 pounds, but that was when a doctor was prescribing diet pills last fall. I can't live like that either!!

Apparently, I have eaten pre-packaged diet food that's either frozen or vacuum packed for so long that I can't do it any longer. Fresh tastes so much better!! I've bought diet food, then we would go out to eat. That's NUTS!!

I'm married to an executive with a large corporation here in the Dallas Fort Worth area who happens to be 8 years younger than me. The age difference is starting to be more noticeable now than I'm in my late 40's because he just lost 50+ pounds by " cutting out the afternoon Pepsi and Snickers bar'. I swear that's what he says. Men!!

I need some diet buddies. If you are a stay at home gal who has seen the big 4-0 come and go, and if you have tried the nationally advertised diets without long lasting success or if you have an aversion to cooking and to exercising, let's talk.

I want to get fit and healthy. Will you help me?
Thanks for reading. I need you!!

Mandy

Hi Mandy!
Welcome to 3FC

Why not drop by the 40-somethings and have a chat with us? We're all doing different plans but the point is support and you'll definitely get that here (here as in all over the board).

Here's a link to our monthly chat thread
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173084

and I do hope more chicks will reply who are on the same program as you or who have similar experinces. I myself am a Weight Watcher - never really tried anything else for more than a day or two!!

Glad you found us! Several of our chickies use delivery systems - and taste IS a big issue with some. Hopefully, that is why the website concentrates on that aspect.

And, if it doesn't work for you, surf around - there are lots of other plans to choose from. Most of us end up tweaking as we go along, anyway!

Default Thank you!! Here are some stats about this diet- what do you think?

The diet I'm eating, which is Texas- only Diet Gourmet, has lots of fresh veggies and fruit packed in each day's menu. Meat is either lean chicken, turkey, fish or buffalo.

The breakdown is 56% carbs/ 24% protein/ 20% fat.
I'm not used to seeing a diet divided up like this daily. Usually, we are told what the daily total calories are, which is 1100 calories with no snacks or sweets, just three delicious and gorgeous meals a day.

The website says that they meet the ADA guidelines and can be used by people with hypertension and diabetes. Also meets the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society guidelines and there are registered nutritionists and dietitions who measure and test the ingredients in each recipe before it is used.

I like that Diet Gourmet is regional to Texas only. The emphasis really is on quality, but I am used to things tasting so bad that I don't know how to deal with good tasting food that will effect a weight loss. That is so crazy!!

I almost went with Bistro MD or eDiets but it gets so extrmely hot here in the summer that I worried about the quality of summer time food deliveries. This is delivered overnight to outlets and we pick it up at a Fort Worth eatery not associated with the company but which stores the food on the 2 delivery days. It's always refrigerated.

I like the quote from Corinthians. I spent many years abusing my body by starving. When I grew up enough to see the damage I was doing and started eating normally, my body " went to Fluff". I hope God will help me nourish myself better.

Thanks,
Mandy

Welcome Mandy, and speaking from experience (and there are many around here who will agree) that the only way to lose weight is to eat food that tastes fantastic. It's just a matter of retraining yourself as to what that is. I wish you the best and will see you around!
