Question Some weight loss tips

I am 21 and I am 245lbs. I plan on going to at least 145. For anyone who has either gotten there or who is trying.....how did you do it? What would be a realistic time frame?

I am doing weight watchers and I really enjoy it... I love that I can still go out to eat and have treats!

To lose 100 pounds I would probably plan on anywhere from 9 to 12 months. Usually people lose a pretty good amount the first month, but the last few pounds can be a challenge.
I personally don't have a time line. I know that I'll get there eventually and I just take it one week at a time!

I'm not sure how long it would take. Some ladies here in the 20 somethings have lost 100 lbs + in a year, some have only lost less. It's taken me nearly a year to loose nearly 60 lb. It could take you anywhere from about a year to several years. I depends on your body, and your attitude, and your dedication.

I think you'll find it easier if you set goals without time tables, and set goals for fitness (i.e. exercise 30 minutes for 5 days/week, eat on plan). Things that you can control. Because even if you're doing everything right, it doesn't always mean you'll loose x lbs each week.

I'm doing WW as well and I like it. I agree with sprkle - I wouldn't say "I'm going to lose this weight in 6 months" - with WW you're supposed to lose between 0.5 and 2 lbs a week, and it can vary. Its probably better to say I'm going to exercise for 30 minutes, 5 days a week, doing xyz - its something you can control.

I'd also set mini-goals weight loss - maybe first get to 230, then 215, etc - that way you have something to celebrate and give yourself a reward after each?

to lose 100 lbs, I would say anywhere to a year or more. thats a lot of weight to lose, and you'll want to do it properly, for it all to stay off.

I calorie count, Im thinking of going on ww b.c I love those snacks and what not too much to give up. lol. exercise is the key to it all I think.

dr. Oz said on Oprah, you eat well, and exercise for 30min a day 5 days a week, and the weight will come off.

hope this has helped you.

Yeah, time limits are not a good thing. I just joined Weight Watchers and am starting my third week. I Love it! I'd give it a try.

i went from 145 to 101 pounds in 4 months and that was through pure hard core exercising , and eating only fruits. man, that was hard. of course, that was when i was in high school. now im in my 20s, and im back up to 140.
I've tried everything, from fasting, to juice fasting, sugar busters, jenny craig, nutrisystem, all that stuff. and i wasted my money and it didnt work for me.
Just exercise 3-5 times a week for 45 minutes and watch you calorie intake.
good luck
