I'm always looking for really good workout songs, so I thought I'd see what motivates everyone else.
Currently, my favorite "hang in there" or "keep running" song is Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror."
It's funny because I don't think I ever liked any Jackson songs until recently. I've only know him as the weirdo whose always facing child molestation charges, so I never really knew what a great artist and dancer he is/was!! There's this part towards the end of the song that gives me chills EVERY TIME I listen to it and it always makes me push that much harder. It's the part where the choir or something joins in and he says "if you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that....." then there is the most anticipatory pause followed by a triumphant "CHANGE!" haha you can see how much I'm into it right now.
Last summer, I got a lot of good workout songs from Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance"--I'm so excited it's starting up again so I can be exposed to cool new songs.
I have two songs that push me past the "I really, really want to quit" stage. Eminem's "One Shot" (the edited version). I know he's a mysogynistic jerk, but this song speaks to me when I am hitting the wall. The other one is Bonnie Tyler's "Holding out for a Hero." Something about that beat really does it for me. Other good ones for me are:
Paralyzer - Finger Eleven
Wake Up Call - Maroon 5
Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson
Stronger - Kanye West
So What - Pink
If U Seek Amy - Brittney Spears (I know, I know, but I like it!)
Hey Ya! - Outkast
Eye of the Tiger - Journey
Dirty Little Secret - The All-American Rejects
And my current favorites, for reasons unknown -
Once Bitten, Twice Shy - Great White
Jai Ho - A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire)
Hey, maybe I can email you some of my Michael Jackson songs....Im not sure if I can do it but I'll try if you want me to. I dont find many MJ fans out there anymore..........let me know and I'll try it.
My top songs right now are:
- I'm the Ish by DJ Class (warning, this song is pretty explicit, I blushed the first time in came into rotation on my iPod )
- Single Ladies by Beyonce
- I Know You Want Me by Pitbull
- Yeah! by Usher
- Right Round by Flo Rida
- Beautiful Dirty Rich by Lady Gaga
- The Ballroom Blitz by Sweet
- Paralyzer by Finger Eleven
- Jai Ho! by A. R. Rahman and the kittycat Dolls
My definite "hang in there" or "keep running" song these days is "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga. And Pink, "Get the party started" by Pink. And "Stupid Girls".
