Back again...
Well, I was here and dieting last june to get weight down before knee surgery. I'm a competitive skier competing in ski-x and big mtn, I fractured my tibial plateau dirtbiking in may, and gained around 25-30ibs which wouldnt be that big of a deal on most people, save for the fact that I'm fairly muscular and dense to start with, so thats a lot of load on my body, and knees. I was up at 215 and lost to 188.
I got down to the weight my surgeon wanted, but he insisted that I come off the diet after surgery to make sure I was getting the nutrients to repair the cartilage and bone damage. Also, I competed all this season and was down the the lowest weight I've been in a while, just keeping what I learned from this diet in mind. (I was down at 180, which was pretty lean for me, I'm 5'9".) While on the road I was burning ~5000-8000kcal a day, which was great. I finally saw my ab muscles for the first time in about a year. I find weight loss super difficult for me, I've got an insulin resistance issue resulting from having polycystic ovarian syndrome. So yes, simple sugars and carbs ARE the enemy. I work nights at a bar here in whistler, so there is ample free booze, all the time. I can honestly say that most of my weight gain is probably from alcohol. May was a bad month, I probably had 4 birthdays that I went out and got smashed, probably consuming 3000+kcal in booze in a night each time. Drinking also lowers your metabolic rate for the following 24 hours, and then I find we'd all eat crappy the next day as comfort food to make ourselves feel better. This is fine if you're a guy and never seem to gain weight, or have the metabolic rate of a hummingbird like all my girlfriends, but it's a recipe for disaster for me. I work door in a nightclub where most of the girls are coke addicted 90ib munchkins with fake breasts, so its always weighing on my mind how much larger my *** is that theirs, haha.
Since I got home from competing in early may I've done nothing but beach/work/drink. When I got home I was 180 and I went up to 205. Since jumping back on the bandwagon 3 days ago I'm down to 201, I'd like to get 170~ ish. After talking with my doctor she thinks it would be super unrealistic to go lower, given my muscle density and height/frame size.
Anywho, it was super hard, spent a bunch of days trying to be good beforehand, and jumpstart ketosis. (I bought ketosticks as my money is running low these days) I'm finally burning, and it feels great. Also been started doing bikrams yoga again, and crossfit, so hopefully I'll be good to go come winter season.
Right now I'm a womens size 12, or lrg. I find I feel best in a size 8/10, and I hate having to buy jeans at the largest size they come in here at 31/32. Its a pain, and I know having super muscular legs and *** have a lot to do with it, but right now its the excess fat ontop and not muscle that is stopping me from fitting into my "skinny" 29/30 jeans.
