Unhappy Let's try this again!

Hi, my name is Lorri. I am an emotional eater and shopper. These habits have gotten me into trouble both financially and physically. For the last 6 months I have reigned in the shopping component of my behavior through therapy and self restraint and I am now on the road to being debt free. With that major accomplishment I am now ready to focus on the eating component of my behavior. I am at my highest weight 215. I know alot about nutrition and exercise because I am a nurse practitioner I just can't seem to make it work in my life. So it is not a lack of knowledge but yet a lack of will power, I have been reading this site for months and have been so impressed and empowered by the stories that I have read. I need the support of the group my family and friends think I am fine just the way that I am. For in my family and culture, I am a good size, I am just "big boned" I have hips and curves in all the right places, "NOT"! I am also 35 years old with hypertension, high cholesterol, migraine headaches, depression and abnormal periods. Many of these conditions are caused by being obese. HELP! I plan to rejoin Weight Watchers tomorrow for the added support and plan to blog here at least once a week. Thank you guys in advance

Welcome and I'm glad you are here. You can so do this. Don't worry about getting the "willpower." I am not sure it exists. What does exist is your ability to make decisions hour after hour, week after week about how you are going to treat your body.

Set yourself up for success. Clear everything out of your home and work environment that can deter your success. You are on the path to success and to health. Let no one and nothing come before your exercise, nutrition and sleep. Put it at the very TIP TOP of the MUST DO list.

You will find the needed support and encouragement here.

I would just add that learning to put yourself first is sometimes the hardest but most important thing you must do to succeed at improving your health.

As nurses we are nuturers. Putting ourselves first flies in the face of what we instictively do. That being said I learned to do it and you can too!

Good luck! I'm also "restarting" since I felt I lost all motivation and the pounds have slowly crept back up!
