Does anyone do spin classes? What kind of shoes do you use?

I did these a couple of years ago. There are "spinning" shoes you can purchase but most ladies only used tennis shoes. One word of caution--you may want to use your old shoes because the black rubber straps left stains on my good Nike.

A great exercise and lots of fun--one of the very few things I miss about going to a gym.

I spin - and love it! I wear my running shoes, Saucony Grids. I haven't had the black mark problem that Thighs experienced. One thing the instructors at my gym say is to double knot your laces; you don't want extra lace flapping around, it can get caught in the mechanism.

I do one spinning class a week, on Saturday morning. I wish I could do another one on Tuesdays but by the time I get there all the bikes are taken (there is only 10 of them). So I gave up on the Tuesdays class, I would have to leave work earlier than usual and it is not worth the hassle.
I wear my regular walking shoes. I am doing spinning only as a subtitution for other forms of cardio as I have plantar fasciitis. I didn't plan on investing into it. But I see that some classmates, who are real bikers, wear special biking shoes.

You're in a size 4??? I'm so jealous! I'm sorry to hear you have plantar fasciitis. My mother and my sister have it and I know it is miserable.

I think I want to try to get two spin classes into my weekly exercise. I am currently doing Zumba classes on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. On Sunday and Wednesday my instructor leads an hour long weightlifting class after Zumba. On Sunday I did both classes for the first time (back to back! And I didn't die!!!), so I'm going to be doing the weightlifting class twice a week from now on.

I took a spin class on Saturday for the first time. It was good but I think it could be a lot better. I know now that my bike needed to be adjusted differently, and that my shoes and that bike don't get along. Both my feet had moments of pain and numbness. I read that is most likely from the wrong shoes. I'm currently hunting on ebay for a better choice, but I'm not particularly familiar with them. I need to call my gym and ask what kind of pedals, etc.

I'm really thrilled with the amount of exercise I'm getting in. If I could just get two more regular exercise sessions a week I'd be set.

I love spinning! I have a few pair of New Balance that I wear to class. No issues there.

My gym has just recently put in a spin studio and I've been loving the classes. 45 minutes flies by!

I've just been wearing my normal gym shoes and that seems to be fine. Our bikes have clips on the other side of the pedals so some people wear proper cycling shoes.

Noniegrace, I admire you for doing the weightlifting after Zumba. That's what I was doing before the plantar fasciitis struck - 3 Zumba classes a week. 2 were an hour long and one was 45 minutes. By the end of it, I am drenched. The worst part is that i don't sweat as much on my body like I sweat in the face and along the hair line. I looked like I just had a shower. A very hot shower mind you, because my face is red. Oh well.
Hey, if you keep this routine, you will be size 4 yourself in no time. I am currently only maintaining. And by the way, I have always had a very tiny butt and narrow hips so it's not like I can get all the credit.

Oh, and by the way, I had to buy a gel seat because i found the seat on the bikes REALLY uncomfortable and after my first class, my intimate parts were really hurting. The gel seat made it better even though I know that some ladies wear both padded shorts AS WELL AS have a gel seat.
