Hi all - I still haven't had time to catch up from last week and I think this week is going to be just as crazy work-wise. I didn't make it to my meeting 'cause that's when I was able to get in to see the orthopedist. Bottom line there is a good one - he doesn't think I did anything other than overdo it and I have anti-inflammatories for a couple of weeks. I did not have a good weekend food-wise but I'm back on track today (and it's a no carb day). TOM is doing one of its funny preimenopausal thing - it's almost starting but hasn't quite yet (I don't want to get into any more detail!) - this happened once before and it tooks 2 weeks! It's probably not doing much good in the hormonal department.

Anyway - I'm swamped. The numbers below are for last week - I hope I see a good number next weigh in!

Default The Prodigal Daughter Returns

Remember me?? Will you guys have me back?

I've been struck with the tried and true wake-up call of an extremely horrible pic of me dancing at a party wearing what I *thought* were very slimming black shorts NOT!

That jolt was enought to make me decide that the non-dieting approach was working fine for maintaining, but not for losing. I need more structure to cut back my calories.

Judy - you mentioned it was a "low carb" day -- are you trying something new with your WW? Holly

Hi all -

Judy - Glad to hear that the ortho didn't find anything major wrong. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your back in tip-top shape soon. Yikes on the TOM but not quite TOM thing you've got going on. I'm sure those hormones are raging. Just hang in there and tell that PMS monster he definitely is not invited for an extended visit.

Holly - Of, course we'll have you back. Welcome back into the fold. Don't you hate it when evidence shows up that proves our mind's eye just doesn't see clearly. You'll be looking great in those shorts in no time.

The weekend went ok. I didn't plan as well and wasn't as structured as I should have been, but I didn't do badly, except for water. I didn't get as much in as I should have. So I'll be guzzling extra today. Not too many challenges this week. My former boss is organizing a going away party for me on Thursday. Other than that it should be easy sailing.

Have a great day everyone.

Hey all, I'm still here, too!

Every time I try to post it tells me that I need to log in (AFTER I've typed it all) and then I log in and it says I haven't followed the thread. GRRR.

Hope you all are doing well. I am trying some new ND therapy stuff and it seems to be working for the auxilary stuff but hasn't kicked in on the weight yet. Probably because I keep eating french fries. Seriously, though, I got so incredibly stressed out dieting and dieting that I just couldn't take it anymore and I yelled at my ND. She told me to take 2 weeks off and try to eat healthy. Long story short, I have tried EVERYTHING to lose and nothing works so they suspect thyroid problems and are treating it as such. My puffy eye problem is almost GONE and I can now get away with no makeup at work - so awesome! THat's with 10 days of meds. We shall see. I also have the very welcome feeling of having enough energy to work out. Am joining gym this month. Am starting diet again next month. RIght now I am concentrating on getting back on the Deepak Chopra Perfect Weight habits. THat is really the best thing for me because it gets me in touch with my own hunger levels.

I just have to say to you all that WW really is a fabulously healthy plan and kudos to you for being on it. I wish that the weigh-in ladies were trained better to recognize potential thyroid issues - it would have saved a lot of tears. I cannot go back - if someone asks me if I'm drinking my water I have an urge to shove a 5 gallon water bottle down their throat. Can't seem to get over that one.

Really great weight vibes to you all!

Hi Everyone!

Jennifa - how great to hear from you again! Glad that you're being treated for thyroid & feeling so much better! I just joined a gym and am enjoying it thoroughly.

Holly - very nice to meet you. I'm a returnee too, after a 2 year absence. These ladies are just the best! Don't you just hate "reality pics"?!

Carla - nice that they're throwing a party for you! You deserve one after all that you've given to work. You'll feel like you have a new lease on life after being off for the summer...lots of time to plan and eat healthy, and even get in your exercise.

Judy - great to hear from you...sorry they're running you ragged
at work. The anti-inflammatories will have you fixed up soon, if they don't chew up your stomach first!

Weekend was okay...we racked 3 batches of wine yesterday, and have to bottle it all next weekend. Got in lots of exercise, and eating was pretty darn good too. I had a horrific sneak peak yesterday, but I think I'm going to be okay...I know, I should just learn to stay off the scale...

Have a good one...

Karen

Carla: You mentioned a going away party -- have you decided to become a stay at home Mom?

Karen: Nice to meet you also Yo mentioned racking wine - are you a vineyard owner?

Jennifa: Long time no see! Glad you found a system you are happy with (Chopra). I've never read any of his books, but I've heard people rave about them. Have you checked out his new cookbook?

My first day back on the program, I exceeded pts However, I journaled everything, and still stayed away from the high fat junk food (turning down a trip to the Dairy Queen, AND passing up bday cake at work !) The biggest pt killer was a broccoli and cheese stuffed breaded ckn breast (*9* pts eek). I wasn't feeling good, and hubby made dinner.

Have a great day all -- Holly

Hi all -

Jennifa - Good to see you again. I'm glad to hear that you've possibly found the reason to your weight loss woes and that things are looking up in that area.

Karen - What does racking wine entail? I think when I go claim that tomato sandwich at Judy's you should join us with a bottle of your wine. I'll bring an appetite.

Holly - My company had a round of layoffs in March and my position was eliminated. My last day is the 28th of this month. This is a good thing. I have a very good severance package and plan on taking at least the summer off. If I play my cards right, I'll turn it into a full-time SAHM gig. Good for you for journaling everything and turning down DQ and bday cake. You might have exceeded points, but I'm sure you ate less than you would have if you weren't back op.

Yesterday was ok. I had Chinese for lunch, but dinner was soup and grilled cheese, so it all evened out. Of course, today I'm retaining water. So, must keep guzzling.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone. I needed to get on here and get back in the swing of life....life is too short and work is over riding my life right now. No more! (at least until I'm done with this post!)

Judy- looks like you're joining me for a crazy week at work. Seems to me that if you do a fabulous job ONE time juggling everything which needs to be done they expect it out of you from that day forward every day. Ugh.

Holly- I remember reading your posts when I was lurking. So true on how a pic sometimes does a reality check for us. Part of my kick in the pants this time was when I saw myself on video from Christmas. You deserve a great pat on the back for turning down both DQ and bday cake! We have to remember this is a life style change and we'll be confronted with choices on a daily basis. Looks like you made some terrific choices yesterday!

Carla- Good job on your weekend! I tend to not drink as much water over a weekend either and it's something I really need to work on. Keep on guzzling the water to override the chinese sodium content. Great job on your daily pts after chinese for lunch. Not sure I would have done as well.

Jennifa- same goes to you as I said to Holly (I remember reading your posts a while ago). I'm thinking of joining a gym so I'll be watching your comments. I'd like to build some weigh training into my regimen so I can start toning up. Figured a gym was the best place for it.

Karen- racked 3 batches of wine....wow! Ignore those sneak peeks...better yet, stay off the scale

Had a good week on program but what I got at the scale was a 0.2# gain. Ick. Shook it off though and have moved forward. Tony and I have our anniversary today (14 yrs!) so I am banking towards a Red Lobster shrimp scampi dinner later in the week. Have a great, pt friendly, think thin Tuesday

Hi Everyone!

Angie - Happy Anniversary! Hope you enjoy your dinner later in the week. Good job in banking for it. Your gain is miniscule and will be history next weigh in! I just joined a gym and I'm really liking it. I bought a few sessions with a trainer to learn to use all the equipment correctly.

Carla - should I bring a cabernet sauvignon, a merlot, or a pinot grigio?!? I think pinot grigio would be a nice light addition to the meal. Wouldn't it be fun to meet one day?! Racking wine just involves siphoning from one container (carbuoy) to another (primary fermenter), then back to the original carbouy to get rid of sediment. Good for you for having a light dinner after the chinese lunch. Keep drinking!

Holly - nope, don't own a vineyard unfortunately. We're making wine at home. Lots of work, but only intermittently, and it is very inexpensive, works out to only about $4 per bottle, and it's very nice wine. Sometimes we get stuck going over in points when someone else i.e. DH makes a meal. Luckily my husband is losing along with me, so he's great at cooking light.

Went to the gym last night for an hour, did weights and bike. Tonight is rowing, but I'm not sure that I'll go as it's pouring today and I have a bit of a sore throat. Just had a snack attack at the vending machine, but opted for pretzels instead of chips or chocolate. Major victory! Now I have to guzzle water to get rid of all the salt, as tomorrow is weigh in.

Have a great day...

Karen

Angie - That wasn't a gain, it was just a blip. You'll have it off and more next week for sure. Happy Anniversary!

Karen - One of each, please. Actually, the pinot grigio would go nicely with the tomato sandwich. It would be great fun to meet one day.

Off to a "music picnic" tonight. (That's what we told Ana it is.) Ravinia is the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. They have all kinds of music during the summer. We like to get lawn seats and have a picnic there a couple of times at least during the summer. Unfortunately, we'll be buying our dinner there, so it will be hard to control the points.

Welcome back, Holly!

I reall swamped at work so please excuse me for not replying to you all. I hope to be able to do a little catching up tomorrow. I've had a good couple of days foodwise. TOM finally came yesterday with a vengeance. I did get on the bike on Monday but no exercise yesterday and today is iffy although I may squeeze something in (some yoga would be nice). I hope you are all well and I hope to catch up with what's going on later today or tomorrow.

Good Morning!

Just time for a quick hello, I did quite a lengthy blurb, and then closed the window instead of submitting...and people trust me with their lives at work!

Happy to report minus 2 lbs today, that's my 1 lb gain gone from last week, and another one gone with it. Didn't go rowing last night as I had a sore throat and was exhausted. Have a 6 pm appt with the trainer at the gym tonight, so I have an enforced workout...

Hope you have a great day,

Karen

Hi all.

Judy - Hope things slow down for you soon. I also hope you're feeling up to a little exercise tonight.

Karen - Congrats on those 2 pounds gone. Sounds like you're firmly back on track.

I have been a bad, bad girl when it comes to getting my water in the last few days. End results - got some of that water from last week off, but not all of it. Rings are tight and I'm back to square one on the scale. Oh well, this too shall pass - as long as I pay attention to drinking my water! Off to guzzle now.
