Default Where is my WOW moment.......

I always told myself that when I hit 300lbs that would surely be my WOW moment. Well the other day I got on the scales and it said 307. No wow moment. Obviously, because I am still going on eating the same old things. I am at such a loss and dont know what to do anymore. I want to lose the weight but to be honest im not sure i can. I was small in highschool but then got married and had a child, put on 100lbs in 9 months. All down hill from there. All my friends are big girls and my husband says he loves me now matter my size. My son is going to be starting highschool this year and he could stand to lose a little weight also. Guess im just looking for a little encouragement and advice.

Make small changes, for the whole family. Whether it be stop buying pop, or whatever the major contributor is, just change one thing. Then in a little while, change something else. More fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean meats... less fried foods, liquid calories, junk food. Then look for a family exercise that you can do. Hiking, football in the park, digging and planting a garden, even just start with walks a couple of days a week.

You don't need to change everything overnight... just one small change at a time. Good luck!

Make your own wow moment.

I spent so many years THINKING about weight loss and what diets I would do and why was I fat and how I wanted to be thin and just on and on and on. Lots of mental energy expended but no results.

There are still some things I do which mystify me, but I realized I don't have to know WHY. I know what healthy eating is. I know what unhealthy eating is.

I finally decided to just DO IT - without spending any more time trying to figure me out. In a very positive way, I decided I was going to concentrate on my health and created a meal plan revolving around whole foods to make me healthier - and I didn't even have a husband or child that I would want the absolute best for (hard to think of a better motivator than that).

I decided to do it, started that day, never looked back. I made it all HABIT. This is just how I am, this is just how I live, I menu plan on Sundays, I pack lunches, I go to the grocery store, I cook healthy dinners.

You can be a healthy person - the internet has all the HOWs. If the WHYS are holding you back - move directly into action.

This is what I did, too. Don't worry about how long the road may be, just put one foot in front of the other and take a step. Anyone can do that. Then, when you're ready, take another, and another. Soon enough, you'll be well on your way.

My kinda wow moment was realizing that I didn't have to be fat if I didn't want to be. That is was indeed my choice.

People ask me all the time how did I lose all the weight. And I say very simply that, "I just decided to". That was basically it. I decided once and for all that I was going to get the weight off (and keep it off). I was ready and WILLING to do what was necessary to be that fit, healthy, trim person that I always longed to be.

I had to in fact "re-invent" myself. I knew there would be no turning back. I revamped my lifestyle, got rid of the junk, but ADDED in good, healthy nutritious foods. Enough was enough. I no longer wanted to be a person whom ate whatever, whenever. I now WANTED to be a person who cared about what she consumed. Oh - and what she served to my family.

And for the record, I too finally gave up trying to figure out how in the world I let myself get so heavy. It was no longer relevant to me. I had wasted enough time. Had I waited to figure it all out, I most likely would be well over 300 lbs now or perhaps not even here at all.

This was truly the best decision I have ever made in my life. Eating/being healthy is a wonderful way to live. It is a lifestyle that is available to any one and every one. Losing weight and any amount IS a doable thing. I urge you to take the plunge. Do it with excitement and zeal. Not with dread and sorrow. I can say this will full confidence that once you decide to do so, you won't regret it for one single second. In fact, you will wonder why you didn't do so earlier. So take that plunge - NOW. Don't waste another second of your precious life settling for second best when first is well within your reach.
