Default Exercise video for super obese?

Does anyone have a recommendation? I need a video that won't be so hard that I don't keep it up... I am easily intimidated. Any videos that feature fat people? (I do like the old R.S. Sweatin to the Oldies... and I am considering that as a possibility)

I don't have great motion since I have a huge gut. Bonus points for a video that is only 30 minutes long -- I don't think my 9 month old son would let me go much longer than that!

Thanks so much!

Some of the walking DVD's by Leslie are excellent.

I started with the Walk Away the Pounds 1 mile walk. At first I could only do about 5 minutes of it, with a much reduced range of motion compared to what they were doing on the video. But it's about 20 minutes and pretty simple.

I've also got a Prevention "Dance It Off" with Jennifer Galiardi (think I have the last name right). It's got several short segments; I do the warm up and one or two other sections.

The main advice I'd have would be to expect that you might have to do only a few minutes of any video to start with. And any video that has you standing up, be sure you're holding in your lower stomach as much as you can in order to reduce back strain.

I think that's the same one I am thinking of--Walk Away the Pounds.

If you have ON DEMAND on your cable check there first. Leslie has two or three that are free there. You can watch them as many times as you like.

Thanks for the great suggestion on Walk Away the Pounds! I just checked it out and the one mile is only a 20 minute workout. Sounds perfect... baby should be content to watch mommy struggle for that long.

I will try to start out slow. I know I need to ease into this since it has been so long since I had a serious exercise routine... and I was much much lighter than. Thanks again for the great suggestion.

If anyone has any other video ideas, I'd love to hear it. It'd be great to have a couple of videos on hand for variety.

I know it's Walk Away the Pounds has already been pointed out, but I just wanted to let you know that the videos are online for free here:

It took me a while to find the videos online but I'm soo glad I looked for them because they're awesome.

I like the walking idea, I probably should have done that when I first started.

I was 340+ pounds and tried Taebo....that didn't work. I managed like 5 minutes! lol

Then I tried: Women's Health: Perfect Body Workout and loved it. I still find it challenging. At first I could only get through like 7 minutes in the warm-up! Then I made it further and further. Now I can get all the way through the cardio segment, with cooldown, and I can do most of the strength and core training.

The women it in are not big, but they are different sizes and I love the fun and tone of it. I'm going to actually be getting more because I enjoy it so much. I believe the same series has a 10 minute workout or something short for people on the go.

When I started it was really tough. I also did Yoga and that did help me and I could only do like a few moments of that. Little by little I could go farther. Don't be intimidated by your body. My stomach was huge, bigger than it is now, and I couldn't bend very well at all. Only do as much as you can.

I love the Walk Away the Pounds dvds. I do the 1-mile every morning before work. Leslie talks a lot, that's pretty much my only complaint. It's a good workout though if you're pressed for time or you need something to get you going in the morning. Also, there's a variety of WATP videos so as you progress or get bored, you can try something else. I have one I haven't tried yet called Walk & Kick and I think it's the basic walking exercise with some kickboxing elements or something.

If you're interested in yoga, there's Just My Size Yoga (bonus points on this one because the instructor isn't a stick figure!). It's not too long and pretty easy to follow. That's another one that's good to do in the mornings or after a long day if you can't fit any other workout in. There's another dvd called Yoga In Bed - where you literally do yoga moves in the comfort of your bed. I found that one in a cheap bin but haven't tried it yet.

It's really hard to find good fitness videos because there are so many. I have tons and can maybe do 2 or 3. I'm not very coordinated
