Red face What can you tell me about WW meetings?

Hi there!

I have been contemplating joining Weight Watchers after seeing the success others have had with the program.

I was considering joining the Online program, however I'm starting to wonder if the actual meetings would be better for me. (More interaction/accountability).

If you attend meetings or use the online program, can you tell me what you like/dislike about it? I'm not sure which one to go with. The online would be convenient, but I think the meetings would keep me more motivated and more accountable. Not to mention I might make a few friends.

So... what do you think? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I do the monthly pass which includes both e-tools and meetings. The meetings really help me as I get ideas for good foods, recipes, etc. as well as tips in general to help you stay on track.

I really don't think I could do as well if I didn't have the meetings. I love the e-tools but I don't think that would be enough to keep me motivated.

I love the meetings. The interaction between the members and the leader is what keeps me motivated. We cheer for each other and offer support when needed. At the meetings you learn little tricks, recipes and motivators you may not have thought of.

I love the meetings. I need to be held accountable and hear/see the other members and their progress is so inspirational- we're all on a team! The online was a waste of my money since it was too easy not to report and be honest. I am the type that needs to hear and see to be motivated!

I do both actually! I'm not a huge fan of my current meeting but I love my leader so I go to be accountable to her. I use the online program to plan and calculate points and use the food database. If a had more time and liked my meeting (the people) I would probably stay and not just weigh in.
My situation is a bit different though.- I am a "foreigner" and I don't culturally relate to all the food talk so a lot of the recipe sharing and even things like holiday planning is totally irrelevant to me. When I went to WW 10 years ago though it definitely helped me in a more social type situation.

My verdict goes to meetings in general for support, accountability and meeting others.

Hi there! I go to meetings! I've done the online thing, and I find that the meetings inspire and motivate me, even if we have some-ahem-personalities-in the group.
I've made some great friends there, and our leader is great. She discusses topics each week that are so helpful (what to do at a buffet table! How will you handle Easter? Eating out!) , and people share their experiences. From this, I learn that weight loss is a struggle for the vast majority of people. I learn strategies that others have tried that have worked.
These meetings also make ME accountable, because I just got my 10% weight loss award (YIPPEE) last week, so I know that I can't backslide because others are there watching!
And oddly enough, there HAVE been times where I've been planning a "weekly binge" using ALL of my Flex points (on, say, PIZZA) for right after the meeting (beginning of a new week) and while I COULD do this, after a meeting I've usually rethought my "strategy" and gone on to a healthy meal.

I also go to the meetings since they help me to saty focus. I used to go on Saturdays but for my luck last week I was forced to go to the Sunday meeting and it was the best thing ever. I love the leader and the people in there are so into the program. They told me about some Zumba classes and I started yesterday, I will continue. Things like that I find them helpful since I don't know a lot of people where I live, and the ones I know are not into this at all hehehe.

I think I'll join online because I've read about the e-tools that they have, but I'll continue going to my weekly meetings. They also have a walking group on Sundays and I met this girl that lost 65 pounds and I couldn't believe her before pictures, she looks amazing.

Wow! Thank you ALL so much for the great responses! You've motivated me even more to try WW and I'm now certain that I will sign up and attend the meetings!

I do not have many 'local' friends in my area and would love the possibility of meeting new people and possibly forming friendships while tackling this weight loss journey! Plus I think it's great that there's a leader to give tips, advice, etc...

I can't wait to sign up now!
Thank you all so much again for your replies! I really appreciate it!

SO glad to hear this, ms Kari! And don't forget, sometimes it takes a bunch of different tries to find the meeting that "fits" with you. So if the first one isn't a good match, just go to a differnent one!
Keep posting, and we'll ALL do well on our weight loss journey!

Good luck! I've been doing WW for six weeks now. I enjoy the meetings. I was really uncomfortable/shy at first, but quickly warmed up. Our leader is really great. Only once out of six meetings was the topic kind of boring to me (carbs - I feel like a carb expert ) but usually it's really useful stuff about tackling challenges and staying on plan.

Plus when you lose 5lbs (10, 15, etc) you get recognized and everyone claps for you - so fun!
