Default Joining you from NJ

Hello! My name is June and I'm from NJ.I'm 38 years old and have been married for almost 20 years. We have 3 beautiful children.

I have been on this weightloss roller coaster since I was about 12 years old.I normally have great results with whatever diet I have tried in the past but that was befor being 38 and having a child after 35.I have always been uncomfortable with my weight but now it has become more than that.At 280 pounds I find myself faced with being afraid of leaving my children motherless. It has become about saving my life instead of about looks.
My Mother died of a heartattack at the age of 57 and my Father had 3 strokes before his death at the age of 41.So not very good odds for me unless I do something and I do it NOW!

I'm struggling trying to decide what way of eating is right for me.I know carbs are a problem for me.I am thinking of ordering Medifast.I have tried it in the past but found it hard to stick to but there seems to be more options now.
Any input or advice is greatly appreciated.I look forward to posting and getting to know all of you.Maybe I'll even find someone in the same area as me

hello! i think carbs are a problem for a lot of people. but ive read that its best if u get them from whole wheat and grains. They now make past from wheat? it has a little different taste but not too bad. Also a good way to tackle your carbs is to balance them with protein.

Hi Luvmy3, welcome! Wow, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your parents, and at such young ages! But I'm so glad that you are taking steps to be proactive with your own health!! If you have trouble with carbs, you may be insulin resistant, so I would suggest you consider reading "The Insulin Resistance Diet" by Cheryle Hart, M.D., and Mary Kay Grossman, R.D. Apparently, they run a very successful weight loss clinic based on this diet. The diet tells you how to offset the carbs you consume so that they won't be stored as fat. Whichever plan you choose to follow, good luck!

Hi there! I am from New Jersey and just starting out as well. My name is Michelle and I am 33.

I know that for me previously low carb/low fat/ high lean protien is the eating stayle that worked for me. That was along with weight lifting and cardio. PM me if you need support or a buddy

HI and welcome. I'm a calorie counter and I do really well with it and I know this is something I can maintain long after I have lost the weight and met my goal. For me this is a complete lifestyle overhaul and I am enjoying it, honestly. It's simple, not expensive and it works. Again welcome and I hope to see your posts on the threads!
