I really don't do too well at checking in over the weekends, do I? Will need to look at improving that.
So, I've had a quiet day - went to the gym fairly early and came home to find everyone else in the block of flats still had their curtains pulled. OK, this was before 9am on a public holiday, but I felt quite smug at the thought that I'd worked hard before everyone else had got out of bed.
Tomorrow, I have groceries arriving early and am planning a cooking session to stock up the freezer for those nights when I get home from work and don't want to cook. I'm also going to go to the gym very early.
It's a funny game, this losing weight. As you all know the scale hasn't really moved much over the last few weeks for me - hovering between 235 and 240 and usually around 237 - 238. This morning I'm down to 233. I'm going to see what the scale says tomorrow before updating everything since Tuesday is my "official" weigh in day, but once again my body and losing weight is just bizarre. It's the same for everyone, I guess.
Beverly, course we missed you, my darling! You're such a sweetie, how can we not? Still sending happy thoughts for DH - please keep us posted.
Seashell, a home daycare must keep you really busy! Good for you - I certainly couldn't do that! Well done with the no cheating - awesome stuff!
MJ, how frustrating about the surgery! Those holidays where you don't do anything are sometimes the best!
Rhonda, scones aren't challenging to make - you just have to work fast, that's all! I'll post the recipe one day if you're interesting, but being that they're mainly flour, I don't think they'd be South Beach friendly... Sounds like you're back on track again - I knew you'd get there!
Diane, you're going to have a gain since you've upped your exercise - your body is retaining water, that's all. Don't worry about it - you'll have a huge loss once your body lets go of the water. That's what happened with me in January!
Lixxi, regular meals, my dear! If you go without breakfast and lunch, of course you're going to eat more at dinner time. But you'll get there!
Darkblue, welcome back! Judging from the date you joined, we didn't really "meet" before since Feb last year is about when I went MIA. Looking forward to getting to know you, and you'll be back to where you were in no time flat!
I can't believe my vacation time is over! I did enjoy ever minute of it. The only productive thing I did was to paint the girls' bathroom.
Diane - parenting a teen is rough! The last time my daughter wanted her hair dyed red....not a nice auburn kind of shade, but tomato red. Now, she wants dark brown. I let her use semi-permanent color that washes out. Anything more would not be okay. She is 13. Lixxi - How is the cold? MJ - I'm so sorry to hear about the whole fiasco with your surgery. Have you heard anything new? Darkblue - Yes, I do remember you. Welcome back!
I was doing a great job of staying on-plan until Hubby decided it was a good idea to bring home a whole coconut cake for Easter. I fought the cake and the cake won. This morning, my stomach is not happy with me. There is very little cake left and I'm pretending not to see the remainder sitting on the counter.
Height: 5 10 ( I hate being taller than all the cute guys!!!)
Happy Monday!
I did well staying op with food considering all my favorite temptations . . . jelly belly's, mac and cheese, homebaked bread . . . I stuck with ham and sweet peas and though the ham was salty and I am retaining lots of water today, I am overall lived up to my Easter goals and I know that in a day or 2 when this water is gone, I will be losing again. Glad it's over and things are back to normal.
Hope you all had a great Easter!
My goals this week are 15 carbs a day, 64 ounces or more of water and walking 60 minutes or more a day. I also need to be better about entering info on Fitday!
Hope everyone had a great Easter. Mine was good, very relaxing (translation: I was so lazy!!). But it was just nice hanging out with my family and kicking back!
I worked out this morning, and will keep pushing forward. I only lost part of a pound this week, but when I looked back at my notes, I seem to be losing only every other week. So, this is the off week. Maybe next week will be better. I think I have to accept that the pounds will not be melting off and it will be a slow process. (Doesn't mean I have to like it!!!)
MJ - Congrats on the weight loss. Good for you!
Rhonda - Darn coconut cake!!!
Seashell - I was a little concerned about the ham I had yesterday, too, with the salt content. Maybe that's why I didn't lose more! Yep, I'm going with that!
Hi Rhonda, it's good to see you! Nicolen, thanks for the welcome-back!
Well, the scales said 230 this morning. How depressing. Obviously, it's time to get back on track! I swore and swore I'd never regain this weight, but...guess I'll go reset my counters now.
Breakfast--oatmeal, 1/2 banana, tea, 1C milk
Lunch--Healthy Choice meal, 1/2 orange, 5 Sun chips, water
Mid-afternoon carb attack --1/3 piece banana bread, two tiny Twix bars. Co-workers should never have candy dishes on their desks.
Dinner--iced tea, steamed broccoli, whole-wheat noodles, grilled chicken, 1/2C alfredo sauce
Snack--1/2C strawberries
I really could get used to this being on holiday thing. It would be easy. Waking at an almost respectable hour (6am), going to the gym to find it almost empty and coming home, having a shower, all before 9am. Pity about those bill things, really, that mean I have to work!
Anyway, a good day today. Got some groceries, made a really nice beef in red wine stew and a couple of other things that are now in the freezer for those days when cooking seems an effort. I did a bit of window shopping since I need a new wok, but I can only seem to find the non stick ones. Since most of my spatulas/spoons etc are metal and would wreck the non stick coating, this isn't practical, unless I was to get the plastic ones - which I'll melt in no time flat. I'm thinking a trip to the Asian Food Warehouse might be in order this week...
OK, what is this ham thing? Is ham a traditional dish at Easter for you folk. Here, the only time we'd get a whole ham would be at Christmas - Easter's all about lamb. And chocolate eggs made from cheap, low quality chocolate. Now, I know that Americans are not as fond of lamb as we are, but ham seems a bit of a strange choice to me...
Rhonda, toss that cake out! Or make hubby or one of the kids eat it. Better them than you!
Seashell, go you for resisting the good stuff. Awesome job!
Beverly, how are things with you this week?
Diane, a loss is a loss is a loss. You're doing so well!
Redflame, you're right. We do not surrender to food - we're more stubborn than they are! Or something like that...
Darkblue, sounds like you've made a fantastic start getting back on track. Awesome stuff!
Right I have about half a glass of really nice red wine left from the cooking today. That's going to be my treat for the day and I'm going to enjoy it.
Good Morning! I w/ nicolen...I could totally get used to being on vacation all the time! Now if we were just independently wealthy so we didn't have to worry about bills....
Sorry I haven't been around. I found out that my best friend's mom passed away Sunday night. I knew she was sick, but I didn't realize how sick. We have been best friends since elementary school--I probably spent as much time at her house as I did at my own growing up! My friend lives in Georgia (and the rest of her family live in NY) and she didn't get home in time...she is so upset. I wish I could do something for her. I CAN be there for her, like she was there for me when I lost my dad.
nicolen--Great job! You are doing fantastic! Yep, ham is typically the Easter dinner choice here. And usually really good chocolate...although my parents never wanted us to have too much candy, so we always got one candy item and then the rest was fruit. My favorite was pineapple--so I always got a whole pineapple....
Rhonda--Boo to vacation being over already! I know you can get right back at it...stupid cake anyway.
seashell--Great job! I noticed our ham was really salty too, probably because I am not used to eating a lot of salt.
Beverlyjoy--You were missed very much! So glad you are back!
Diane--nothing wrong w/ a relaxing holiday!
Redflame--I agree! Luckily, I didn't bring home any leftovers from my sisters!!!
Darkblue--good to see you!
No news about the surgery stuff, yet. I haven't had a chance to get back to the lawyer. If I don't hear from him, I will call him again. I was going to call the doctor's office back, but I think I am just going to let the lawyer handle it all!
Ok, I need to get some coffee and breakfast.
I have a great OP day everyone. I'll be around as much as I can. If I am not, don't worry....it's just because I am w/ my friend and her family.
Hi everyone! Sorry for checking in so late-- the cold has been bad! It's not bad enough to substantiate me skipping work, but it's bad enough to make me really uncomfortable and moody. So workouts haven't been OP. I can feel my previously minimally toned muscles going soft again. I should be good for a workout tomorrow, but for the whole of Monday and Tuesday, I've been just mooching around.
I've set some mini goals this week. I hope to be 60kg by the end of the month, and exercise wise, by this week I hope to clock 10km, at least 2 30DS, I want to try WATP one time, and do ten 1 minute wall sits, and 60 push ups.
Is that too much? Actually I think it's a bit too little. But considering Thursday and Friday I'll wouldn't be working out much, should be okay, right?
I'm absolutely praying for an OP week this week. My mood needs and uplift.
I really want to type out individual replies, but I so need to bounce. Sorry! Next time, okay??
Had a not-so-good food day yesterday. It was insanely busy and I turned to too many convenience foods. Oh well. Onward! I went to the gym and had a good workout, so I just need to stay on track now. I had wanted to go walking at lunch, but it looks like the storm they talked about is coming in early.
Nicolen - I also think that lamb is not that popular here because it isn't easy to find. If you do find some in the store, it seems pricey to me. I do like lamb, but I just don't fix it often. Wouldn't mind trying the beef in red wine sauce though! Yum!
Darkblue - You're doing great, getting things back on track! Good for you.
MJ - Sorry to hear about your friend. That is a tough thing. It's good that she has a friend like you!
Hi everyone! Just popping in before things get hectic over the next couple of days.
lix--Hope you are feeling better!
Diane--Exactly, one day is not going to ruin everything. Get back on track and you'll be fine.
Beverlyjoy--I am keeping dh in my prayers!! Good for you for getting back into your relaxation cd's. I know they worked for you.
My friend will be here in the morning. She literally dropped everything and drove here from Georgia when my dad died. She stayed for over a week. I did my best to be strong for my mom and the rest of my family, but around her I could let go. I honestly think that is the reason I was able to get through everything. I promised myself I would do the same for her. I wish she didn't have to go through this, but I know she'll be ok. She and her mom had a rocky relationship and I know she has some guilt related to that and the fact that she wasn't here.
mj5, it's good to see you. I take it that your knee is still causing you all sorts of troubles? Take care of yourself and your friend.
Beverly--hi! Will keep my fingers crossed about the job.
Slashnl--I think that work-stuff sabotages one's best diet intentions faster and more thoroughly than anything else. *sighs*
Nicolen--ham, yes. Turkey is traditional at Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I suppose that ham was different, "lighter," etc.
Not the best diet day here:
Breakfast--tea, cereal, 1.5C of skim milk
Lunch--*sighs* ended up in a meeting at work and had to grab something fast in the cafeteria. Beef soft tacos were the only thing left.
Dinner--baked potato, iced tea, one small cookie.
No exercise today--very busy at work and had to run errands on the way home.
Gosh, it feels like I haven't stopped today! It's been mad, but I'm not sure what I've actually accomplished - or if I've accomplished anything really. Bit of a worry.
Anyway, I walked to the mall - used to take me 40 minutes, now takes me just on 30, did a bit of shopping and grabbed a trim latte and NO FOOD. This is quite the achievement since this particular coffee place is known for the quality of their muffins. Came home and went into town to meet a friend for lunch. And this is where things got a bit messy. I ordered a burger which was huge and ate the whole thing. And the fries. And the salad. That was over six hours ago and I'm still not hungry, so when I do have dinner I think it'll be just a piece of toast or something like that. Not the best choice, but it was yummy and obviously very filling, so I'm not feeling guilty about it, because I know I'll do better tomorrow.
MJ, you're a fantastic friend, and I know you'll be able to give your friend some comfort. Sending my sympathies..
Lixxi, oh no! Hope you're feeling better soon!
Diane, at least you made it to the gym despite your busy day! That's a big plus - it would have been so easy to just go home.
Beverly, still sending good thoughts towards your DH. Gosh, if the power of everyones prayers and good thoughts count for anything, he's a shoo in!
Darkblue, hope things get a bit calmer for you.
Tomorrow, I'm heading to the gym fairly early and I think I'll have a DVD day or something like that. Bad weather's due to roll in about mid morning, so a day curled up on the couch is very appealing...
