Goal!
I've been trying to turn myself into a runner since I began dieting in 7th grade. Ever since then, one of my biggest goals - more important than any number on any scale - was to run for thirty minutes straight. And I did that tonight for the first time!
I still have things I want to improve:
- Was it a fluke? Redo!
- It was at 5.0 mph, I want that at 6.0, minimum
- Treadmill! I need to move it outside!
I am so ridiculously excited right now. I never thought I would ever make this. I did the first 5 weeks of C25K, stalled, and then after a good month without running outside of my lacrosse practices, I hop on the treadmill and manage to get my goal?
What I've decided about this, is that I could do it all along. I just need to learn to push myself harder in exercise. I usually exercise to the point of discomfort and then relax. I need to push myself through discomfort, just stopping before pain. I don't suck quite as hard at running as I thought I did! I don't know why this seems like such a huge milestone - I've run 24 minutes (2 miles) multiple times, but the extra .5 mile and 6 minutes just makes it feel completely different.
I'm going to stop being a spaz now, I'm just so excited!
