Hello, I'm new here. As you can probably tell from my name, I won't be posting much in any low-carb threads.

I try to cut back, and I don't touch much candy or sugar, but rice and potatoes are my lifeblood.
At one point I was about 285 and I was put on an overly drastic diet by a somewhat stupid person I no longer associate with. I ended up losing about 60 pounds in 6 months...and a gall bladder. Between that and my suspicions of insulin-resistance, I have a pretty hard time having the same weight from week to week. I managed to work my way down to 180 at one point, then went back to not paying as much attention and shot back up to 210. I'm back on the bandwagon but hovering on 200 like it owes me money.
I'm hoping to get help and encouragement to eat more (I daily break the laws of thermodynamics), eat better, get better exercise, and have people to commiserate with when I eat the rare cupcake. I eat too much on the weekends and not enough on the weekdays.
On a more personal note, I'm definitely getting older but not wiser. I enjoy books, video games, and spending time with my close friends. I have no family up here and no potential exercise buddies unless I want to drive another 50+ miles every day. I have a history of mild to moderate depression, but I'll try to keep that to other forums or the appropriate threads.
Nice to meet you!
