It's true that you can't spot reduce, so you need a combination of cardio and muscle training for best results.
Personally my favorite ab exercise are leg raises! I don't like crunches/situps because they strain my neck, but with leg raises I have no such problem. You can look them up online for pics and demos.
I have been doing 30 day shred and not to sound like a commercial but that thing has delivered! After a week I notice a HUGE and I mean huge difference. I have stuck to it and because I think I see such a difference it keeps me going.
I feel like dying after I am done but hey.. whatever works.
