Red face So I'm going away this weekend...

and call me crazy but I'm not going to use it as an excuse to eat. We'll be driving 8 hours there on Saturday, picking up our puppy Sunday morning and then driving 8 HOURS BACK on Sunday.

I've got my menu's done for both days and entered in fitday. My only variable is we're eating dinner at my hubby's Aunt's on Saturday and I have no idea what it is. But I made that my high day (2000 cals) and left about 1000 calories lol! I WON'T eat that much obviously but I'll adjust my cal's when I get back to the hotel that night.

I'm packing a cooler for Saturday with my breakfast, lunch and snack and nighttime snack as well. We'll eat the complimentary breakfast on Sunday morning and then Subway for lunch (6 inch oven roasted chicken on whole wheat, no cheese, no mayo 321 calories). I'm packing my afternoon snack, stopping at Subway AGAIN for dinner (same thing) and then I'll eat my snack later after we're home and everyone is settled.

Do you think I'm insane? I'm not worried about slipping and going off plan... but maybe I should be worried? *shrug*

Wish me luck! The roads and snow here right now is just gross.

Awesome planning! Sounds like you will be just fine in the food department. Have a safe trip.

Oh oh oh! Have you not heard about THE puppy? I must bore you now.

She's a 9 week old Blue Merle Rough Collie girl. I've been in line for a blue girl for over 7 months now so she's long awaited! She has one brown eye and one china eye and she's GORGEOUS! She's my newest show prospect (first one at 6 months in July) and we'll wait and see how she pans out BUT she might turn out to be my foundation B*tch

ooooo gorgeous!

I love dogs! I have 5, 2 old boys and 3 old girls, all 13 this year!

They didn't have many walks in my last house, I just got out of the habit/got fat/got depressed, although they had a large pen for exercise (they seemed to spend most of their time trying to get back into the house, however).

Here, although it's all urban walking, it's so close to the city centre that there are very few, if any, stray dogs that we might meet, and I'm walking my 'patch' to get to know it and the people. So the doglets are getting a lot more exercise - only, when I cut one out (only walk one at a time) and dangle the lead in front of them, they're hysterical; 10 minutes into the walk they're asking, HOW far did you plan on going? Poor pups. All except Milly, the youngest, not 13 until the autumn, little shaggy terrier; she keeps going and going!

Enjoy your newcomer!

Insane????? Huh? You're kidding right?

Of course you're not insane. You've got some goals in mind young lady. And you're not letting ANYthing stand in your way. And I admire your determination. You're making ZERO excuses. Because if you want something badly enough, you'll find a way and then make it happen. You ARE a health minded person now and that doesn't stop just because you're going away.

The first time I went away for a weekend while I was losing, I was definitely nervous. But I planned ahead, packed up a bunch of stuff - added in extra walking - ate very well and even had a loss. It IS doable. Life happens and there will always be weekends away. How we deal with them is up to us. It's amazing that we can go away, enjoy ourselves, our families, our surroundings - and eat healthy all the while. And actually enjoy the food too! What a concept. Who knew?

Have a phenomenal weekend!

Of course you are not insane, you are prepared! I bet you will enjoy the weekend more because you do not have to be concerned about what you are eating.

Yes, you ARE crazy --- crazy like a fox! (or a really foxy lady!)

Given my experience over spring break where I really felt like I was eating well and walking a huge amount, but still gained weight, I think your plan is nothing short of brilliant. Probably the strongest weapon in our arsenal is planning, and you are deploying it like a 5-star general. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy your visit with the auntie and congratulations on that very cool non-food reward you are getting for your trouble!

I look forward to hearing all about the new baby come Monday, HotMama!

Oh man am I glad you posted this
I have to go out of town too next Thursday and Friday to check out my future college campus and look for apartments. We'll be staying in a hotel, so I was worried I'd do nothing but eat fast food. But that subway sandwich sounds perfect! And I'm gonna pack most meals too though. I'll just have to pack some extra food for my boyfriend or else he'll be eating fast food in front of me constantly, and my will power is too weak to keep from stealing it from him. :P

The puppy is adorable by the way! My step sister just got a puppy that looks just like yours, only she's black and brown.

That was a brilliant idea to plan it all out before hand...I may copy you and do the same thing! I'm on spring break next week and I'm going to visit my grandma...I'll be gone Sunday-Thursday....that's a lot of potential off plan days! I can never stay on plan when I'm not at home, but maybe if I plan it all out like you did, I'll have a chance!

Ooh...I'm excited now...I'm gonna plan it all out and pack a cooler...you've inspired me!!

You're gonna do great. I'm going out of town for the weekend in 2 weeks and I'm already planning. I'll be cooking up several steaks and cutting them into strips and we'll have a kitchenette so I can do eggs. Pre-cooking bacon and green beans. It will be a pretty boring menu-wise but I'll definitely stay within my carb allotment. The only thing I may go over on is decaf, since I'll probably be getting one every time the group stops for a treat, but I can adjust my veggies accordingly.

You are totally awesome for planning this out. And congrats on your new baby!

Fenderella (and anyone else that might be staying in a hotel room):

When we travel, we usually stay someplace like a Comfort Inn and those usually have little fridges and little microwaves in the room. This works out well for me because I can have my very own high-fiber cinnamon swirl instant oatmeal for breakfast (and maybe a yogurt with almonds for a late night snack) while everyone else eats the continental breakfast downstairs. It gives me control over at least one meal each day.

It depends on the hotel you use, obviously!
