Default Big Bones?

Okay, so I'm sure everyone has heard the one joke about how people claim to be "big boned" but have you ever seen a fat skeleton?

And research shows that nearly all of our skeletons are about the same size (other than height) There is some variation but not enough to really claim that you are "big boned".

Well, since I went from overweight kid to chubby teenager to obese adult, I've often been labeled, by kind relatives, as "big boned". I am muscular but I'm also quite fat.

My point (and yes, I do have one). I was standing at the stove, watching breakfast cook this morning (had the morning off so actually cooked breakfast instead of warming up an already boiled egg) and I had my hands on my hips. I've reached a point now where I can feel the bones under the fat. So I pressed my hands down until they were actually resting right on top of the high points of my pelvis and realized how small the space between those points actually is.

What do you know? I don't have big bones! They are the same size as everyone elses! Which means, to me at least, that I can actually get rid of the fat sitting on top of those bones and be thin! I know I'm a long ways away and have many miles and calorie counting days ahead of me but I can do it!

Sorry this was so long but I just wanted to share my revelation with someone and this seemed the best place to do so.

LOL, some of us do have a lot of space between those points! I don't think I'm big-boned, but I do have wide hips

LOL! No, I had not heard it. I loved the post in general. Congrats on being able to feel the bones under the fat. I am so looking forward to that!

I'm not sure. I'm 5'9", and my friend is 5'3"... I'm a lot taller than her, if you feel the size difference of our bones you can see my bones are actually A LOT larger than hers. We've compared before (yes we are weirdos ) And my collar bone is almost double the size (width and length) than hers. Same with wrist bones, her's are so tiny compared to mine.
