I've recently discovered Loblaws' "Presidents Choice Blue Menu" and I'm in love!!! I've always found Loblaws really expensive, but when it's on sale, it's great !! they make a lower fat Shepherd's Pie (even one with a mashed cauliflower top for all you Atkins fans!) and it's heavenly and pretty low cal. And a pork souvlaki skewer -- 2 decent sized skewers for 130 cals - for 2!!!
Any time I start thinking "hmmm this better choice is expensive" I BONK myself on the head as I never batted an eye spending $10 for a DOUBLE wendys cheeseburger combo LOL
and boy... The way you said "spending $10 for a...." I have never thought of that again. So when I see a $100+ grocery bill... I will just think of it as not eating out 10 times.. and I get a crapload more food!
I heard their Blue Menue stuff was realy good. I'll have to give er a try.
As for the $10 Wendy's meal...I hear ya. I wouldn't blink at spending $20-$30 on a bunch of random junk instead of eating the meal I made for my kids. So spending a bit more for something healthy is worth it./
I love President's Choice, but I haven't paid the Blue Menu stuff much attention... I'll have to take a closer look.
I did read on this board - in calorie counters, I think - that their pizza is pretty calorie-friendly, but I had to put my fingers in my ears and go la-la-la-la because pizza is a huge trigger for me. A whole one may not be enough!
Ya, PC is yummy. And you're so right about eating out. We'll buy something of lesser quality at the grocery store to save 50 cents but then go out and buy fast food and not think about it. We are better off spending the money on groceries.
