Default Whey Protien, Helps

I started exercising not to long ago and I would always get really sore so it made me not want to exercise the next day. I was talking to one of my friends about this and she told me that I should try talking some protein to help me out. After a little bit of research I decided to use some whey protein and it has helped me feel better after my exercises and now that its a little more enjoyable I am starting to see some improvements. I still haven't reached my goal but I feel that I am closer.

Has anyone heard the difference (or know) between whey protein and soy protein? Is there much of a difference or does it depend on your goal, etc.?

Whey protein isolate (has no fat or carbs [lactulose]) is the best source of protein available. A whole egg used to be the number one source for protein but whey has more. It is derived from milk protein.

Soy protein is, of course, derived from soybeans (so good choice of protein if you are a vegetarian)

BV rating (amount of protein retained in the body per gram absorbed - the better the protein is absorbed, the higher it is on the rating scale)

Whey Isolate: 110-159 BV
Egg: 100 BV
Soy: 74 BV

My boyfriend is very, very into bodybuilding and he swears by Whey Isolate.

Here is a little tidbit on Whey Protein:

"Will whey protein help me lose weight?
Adding whey protein to the diet is a great way to jump-start a weight loss program. Whey protein is a key ingredient in numerous weight loss and meal replacement products and whey protein isolate (with no fat or carbohydrates) is often the preferred choice. Studies have found that individuals who combine diets with leucine rich protein foods, like whey protein, and exercise have more lean muscle tissue and they lose more body fat. As they lose fat their metabolic rate increases and they naturally burn more calories each day. Another way that whey protein helps manage weight is by promoting satiety, or a feeling of fullness. One recent study showed that whey protein was superior to casein, the other protein in cow's milk, in promoting satiety."

I can't post links yet...

but some facts I got on wikipedia searching whey protein. The other information I got from powersupplements.com/protein.htm (with the www. in front)

Hm! I should abuse my university account and search for some articles on whey protein since I have access to online articles.
