Default Buying workout DVDs- with an added challenge!

You have to be able to get them in New Zealand Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me decide whether I should get a workout DVD at all, and then which out of the 20 million is going to give me the best results.

I was just thinking about it today. On days when i work i find it hard to get to the gym. I work fridays at the moment, from 12-2, i know that sounds like very little, but to get to work I have to leave my house at 10:40, and i would prob get home around 4pm. Im not a morning person xD and if i went to the gym after work i wouldnt get home until around 5 or 5:30. And then i have my martial art training from 6:30 (which keeps things ticking over but isnt fitness/fat loss focused). So i was thinking, a workout DVD on fridays would help.

After easter i will be working a whole lot more too, so on the other days when i have training in the evenings I could do a DVD in the morning before work. I mostly have the house to myself during the day, and Im hoping people will leave the house earlier than I will have to.

Basically, i want a DVD that doesnt require me to buy fitness equipment. I also need to be able to find it on www.mightyape.co.nz (the site doesnt have the 30 day shred )

At the moment i am looking considering:
Aussie Fit - Body Trim
Aussie Fit - Fat Burner
Aussie Fit - New Body (Plus Dance Aerobics)
Fat Burning Workout For Dummies
Aussie Fit - Ultimate Workout

Also, when you guys use DVDs at home, do you use a matt or anything? Im sort of worried about sweating into my carpet xD With the more energetic ones do you have to be careful not to smash into your tv/knock it over with your bouncing around? Do you wear shoes?

Okay, So I found these... http://www.mightyape.co.nz/search/?s...+Electra&i=All I know that it sounds sort of silly, but the striptease workouts WORK. I have Vegas strip and the first two dvds. The prep-work alone (I guess you could call it conditioning) before you get to actual routines (should you want to learn them) make muscles all over hurt. Granted, I haven't done them in a few months, but when I did they seemed harmless, but afterwards, you had a nice burn.

Also, the MTV Pilates isn't so bad...A friend of mine regularly swaps dvds with me, and it was okay... music was pretty good..http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/MTV-Pilates/1526278/

If you have a Nintendo Wii, there is actually a video game that Jillian is coming out with on April 17. http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/N...-2009/2694237/

I don't use a mat, and most of the time I don't wear shoes. I kind of feel silly doing workouts with my tv wearing shoes!

Oh, and you may want to try Jillian's website. They may be able to ship it to you. NZ is in the shipping catergory, but without an address I couldn't get an approximate shipping cost. http://jillianmichaels.shop.sportsto...cp=14308_14361

AND there is a website http://exercisetv.tv/ that a lady at my last WW meeting told me about... there are clips and whole workouts on there that you might be able to do!

AND you can actually find the whole 30DS workout Phases 1-3 on youtube. They are divided into 3 parts each, but the quality isn't so good...

Hope this helps!
Whatever you choose to do, have fun with it!

Awesome thank you! I might try the 30 DS on youtube. How exactly does it work? There are 3 phases...how does it last 30 days? Do i do each phase ten times before moving on to the next?

I HIGHLY recommend this video: http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/R...-Body/2753410/

It is divided into two 30ish-minute sessions, one focusing on lower body strength training and one focusing on upper body strength training. Each session does one minute of strength work alternating with one minute of cardio. I have been doing it every other day (almost) for two weeks and I've already lost an inch from my hips, inch from my waist, and 1/2 inch from my arms. It is SO good and will leave you sore without wanting to die during the actual work out.

As for equipment, I do have a pilates mat that I use (but don't need during the workout unless you're on a hard floor), and two sets of weights - one set is 10 lbs and one set is 3 lbs. They were pretty cheap...less than $20 for the four weights.

ETA: I'm planning on using this more than 10 days!

did you use the meal plan that comes with that as well? Can you use any weights you want, ie bumb the weights up/down depending on how energetic you feel?

I have not yet used the meal plan but I think I'm going to start it next week. In a nutshell, it's 1200ish calories, eating six meals a day. Nothing too special, but the meal suggestions that she lays out are nice for ideas and stuff. You can easily substitute things you don't like (I'm not a big fish person and there's a lot of fish on this meal plan, so I'll probably sub it with chicken or turkey).

The recommendations for the lighter weights are between 3-5 lbs and the heavier weights are 8-10 lbs, but I would definitely think you can cater to what your strength needs are currently. I use 10 lbs for the heavier ones, but even on the lighter weights, the 3 lb ones seem to be enough!

Sometimes I just want to do the strength segments so I use the cardio interval to just rest, or I usually do some ab/core work on my own during that one minute. I like the fact that each segment is ONLY for one minute... you can do anything for one minute!
