Default Thin4Life - Week of 3/16/09

Good morning everyone.

The weekend was good. The Verdi Requiem concert went very well and the conductor was pleased. That was a lot of hard work, so I'm glad for the break. Didn't play any golf.

We went over our friends house and played cards; that was fun. I drank too many Cosmos though.

Went to WI yesterday and was up .4 (that's not bad). I wasn't upset, probably too many Cosmos.

Melissa, Sorry to hear about the restructuring at your college. That is so sad when long-time employees lose their jobs. It's very difficult to find another one. I'm glad your boss kept you out of the fray.

Lori, Your baby will be here before you know it.

Good morning! March Madness is descending upon our campus! The team won on Saturday and will play in tonight's championship game for the right to play in the Elite Eight in Springfield (MA). The team we're playing we've beaten 2 times before and we're hoping to win tonight. Add to that all the bars celebrating St. Pat's Day (it's HUGE here) it'll be even crazier this evening. They're putting 900 tickets on sale tonight for the game so it'll be crazy.

The weather here has been great--sunny and warm for us (50's) and tomorrow we may even get into the 60's. The cold weather certainly could come back (along with snow) but I'll take the nice days while we have them!

The weekend was busy--game on Saturday night and then DS and his wife came over & we made pizza. DH came down with some sort of stomach virus that has laid him up the past two days.

Melissa, Congrats to your team. It must be so exciting!!!

Many people will be out tonight for St. Pat's festivities, but I plan to go to yoga. I'm trying to be good.

Lisa: The last time we were in the run was the 1989-90 season so it's huge. I was able to get a couple of tickets from a coworker for the game tonight so I don't need to stand in line after work I don't care for green beer but am sad to report that I did consume a green frosted doughnut! People here started at the bars at 7 am for green beer & eggs (ugh). Enjoy yoga tonight!

Run4Change: How are things going??

Pam: Are you still hanging in there?

Good morning! What an exciting game last night--our team won and we're heading to the Elite 8 in Springfield, MA. They played to a packed house (2800 screaming fans) and it was a battle! I was so wound up after the game that I had a hard time getting to sleep last night!

The weather is still warm for us--it's 58 again this morning but a cold front is supposed to come through later on today and it'll be colder tomorrow. I was able to get out for a walk over the lunch hour yesterday and it felt good. I'm a little sore this mornng but that could be a combination of the game and the walk. I'll head to my meeting at noon and see where I'm at with things.

Lisa: The bars here open at 7 a.m. on St. Pat's and they pretty much are packed all day. I went out once for St. Pat's and that was enough! There are a lot of people who dress up for it and enough that go from bar to bar all day. Erie has a lot of Irish and enough Irish-style bars so it's pretty crazy.

Melissa, Wow! Congrats on the win. Your campus must be going crazy. Who will they play?

Good luck at WI.

Yoga was great last night, but when I got home, I was exhausted.

Lori, Gosh, what kind of problems are you having? Is it someone you supervise or work with? Don't let get to you. I hope your management does something about it. If it's something like substance abuse or sexual harrassment, your HR department should take care of it pronto.

Lori: I hope you get the problem with your coworker taken care of--that's the last thing you need--added stress! Hang in there! We're getting busy here--our orientation information went out and now the calls and reservations are coming in.

Lisa: We'll play Central Missouri (24-3) on Wed. the 25th. They have buses lined up to take the students and fans so there's a lot of buzz on campus. I won't be going this time around but I think my boss will be. I have a conference next Friday that I'm looking forward to. It's called W.I.L.D. (Women in Leadership Development) and it should be good. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm hoping for a somewhat quiet weekend. I need to get into my closet and do some purging, but I keep putting it off. Once I get started it'll be fine...it's just getting started!

I wonder if Run4Change is busy getting ready for another race. Pam must be busy as well...our board has been on the quiet side.

Melissa, Good luck to your team--what is the mascot?? The course sounds interesting. Ugh--I need to also go through my closet; actually I need to start moving my warm clothes back to the storage closet and move my spring clothes. Yes, we wear different clothes down here and we actually have some seasons.

Yes, the board has been quiet. I just hope everyone else is fine.

My weekend is a little busy. Tonight I'm going to a ballet (by myself). DH has to work; I asked several other people to go, but they couldn't. On Saturday DH and I are working at our church Irish Show. We bring in Tony Kenny, an entertainer from Ireland. It's for charity, but I must admit ticket sales have not been good; must be the economy. I'll be working at it doing Irish Coffee (always a hit). I hope to play some golf this weekend.

Lisa: Our mascot is a Knight--Gannon Golden Knights I know you have seasons there. It didn't get all that warm today (34) but the sun sure made it nice! The conference has a speaker who talks about reading body language and another one who will talk on wellness and approach to life. I'm looking forward to it!

I'm hoping for a quiet weekend--I need to get some things done around the house that I've been putting off.
