Question Anyone Done WW & LA Weight Loss?

Anyone Done WW & La Weight Loss?

Hi Everyone.

I have been a member of both & LAWL and WW.
LAWL worked faster and better but WW is so much more realistic.
Regardless, here I sit once again overweight and unhealthy.

The reason I posted this thread is because I need help deciding which plan to re-start!

I am 5feet 3inches and currently 160lbs. I carry my weight in three areas – face, stomach, and chest. I look and feel overweight. I have a grand total of 2 pairs of pants that fit and refuse to go shopping anywhere but my own closet – therefore I need to decide how I am going to loose the weight to be able to shop in my own closet again.

I have the resources for both LAWL & WW but really cannot decide which to commit to!

The results that I would like to achieve are as follows:

Weight Loss by August: 20lbs
Total Weight Loss: 30lbs

Thank You for you Help!!!

Hi Chan,

It really is up to you. What do you see as being more sustainable? What can you live with for the long-term? A good rule of thumb is "don't do anything to lose the weight that you wouldn't be willing to do to keep it off." Keep the future in mind, since it's likely that you're always going to have to keep an eye on what you eat to make sure you maintain your loss. Is LAWL sustainable? Is counting points sustainable? No one can really answer this question for you. What do you perceive as being the benefits of one over the other?

Thank You Judy
You are right - it is my choice.
WW is far more adaptable to real life, that is for sure.
LAWL is quick.
I am really leaning towards WW though - I really just need that extra support, which is where meetings and 3FC comes in. There are no LA centers in my area anymore so I would be doing LAWL on my own.

Hey, I too have done both WW and LAWL. I lost quicker on LAWL but regained 1/2 of it quickly. I never regained the weight I lost on WW.
I just restarted WW after putting on 10 of the 20 I lost on LAWL. I kinda think the Fastforward and other stuff was hokey and the push to eat the bars over the top. I like WW because I have never felt fiorced to buy beyond the meeting fees.
Good luck, I will be around if you need support.

Chan - I too did LAWL until they closed their doors and have started WW in November 2008. I lost quickly on LAWL but quickly gained about half of it back. WW is a slower loss but I feel confident that I will be able to sustain it without resorting to eating my fool head off and gaining it back. For me the allure of WW is that I can eat anything and it's OK. I just make adjustments for it in my points.

If you need to talk to anyone about it further, let me know and I'll try to help. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth!! I'm sure whatever you do you will be successful in it.

Another thing, is that quick weight loss isn't really the healthiest way to lose it. As you have mentioned, you lost quicker, but gained it right back. Your body doesn't like change. It likes to stay the same.. WW focuses on healthy eating and easy maintenance. Look forward to seeing your progress!

Hey Everyone!
Thank you for your input
I went to WW yesterday and joined. I had the materials to do it on my own but I really think that going each week will keep me motivated.
I shall be a regular on 3FC for the support!!
