Default Need blender recommendations

I've had my Osterizer 10 speed blender for over 20 years and it finally died. I used it a lot too!

My first thought was to run out and get another Osterizer, but maybe the brand isn't as good as it once was? I'm looking at reviews of the Oster Beehive blender right now and it's looking good, but if anyone has any other blender recommendations I'd really appreciate them!

magic bullet, all the way! I love mine. It is so small, I just leave it out on my counter. I use it everyday for omelets, fruity icees. I have never seen a blender that so efficiently blends ice.

If you want a blender that will last and you use it a lot, buy a vita mix. They are pricey, but so worth it. My parents had one and I wish I knew what happened to it. When my blender dies, that's what I'm buying.

Can Magic Bullets handle smoothies?

How big is the Magic Bullet? It doesn't look that big to me. I make a lot of soup and hummus in my blender. I need a big jar. I like that it doesn't take up lots of space, though. My kitchen is tiny.

The vitamix looks awesome, but it's way out of my price range right now. Definitely something to save up for.

Thanks so much for responding.

I got a cheapo Magic Bullet ripoff at Wal-Mart for smoothies, and it works great!

I have 2 blenders, a vitamix and a bella cucina magic bullet type blender from Macys. The Macys blender was $19.99. Its done pretty well and has lasted well over a year with nearly daily blender use from my husband. He says he thinks the blades have dulled a bit and don't chop up frozen bananas as well as it used to but he still uses it. I use the vitamix on a daily basis for my own stuff and its wonderful.
