Hi :)

  • Hi everyone,

Introductions have never exactly been my strong point, but I figured it would only be polite to introduce myself . I'm Summer, a 21 year old student from the wild hills of Ireland. I'm in my final year of college, and hopefully going on to obtain a MA degree in Journalism in the fall . Some of my hobbies are reading, writing, dancing (badly!) to music (I like to crank it up loud and shake my booty when no ones around ). I also knit and drink copious amounts of herbal tea.

So what brought me here? Well, since I hit my teens, my weight just piled on. I had a few health problems during that time, which saw me in and out of hospital and unable to really get moving, so that also helped with the weight gain. I joined Weight Watchers when I was 16 and managed to loose 2st, but over the past few years it has all crept back on, and I am now at my heaviest weight. I recently entered into a new relationship as well, so since I've been back in college I've just been eating (I'm sure all you ladies know what its like. You meet someone new, and then takeaways and the tv set become your new best friend ).

Anyway, it finally hit me the other day that I'm about to enter into an exciting new phase of life. I have the good realtionship, I'm almost finished college, and I'm tired about feeling bad over how I look and the number I tip the scales at. I want to get some confidence back. I want to be able to go shopping and buy the clothes I really like, instead of always going for the baggy things. So I've decided to embark on a positive lifestyle change. I'm not following a diet per se, I'm just cutting out all the junk, eating properly and upping my exercise levels.

Its time for a change! Majorly! And I look forward to reading all the fabulous words of wisdom and encouragement on these forums .

    Thanks for reading!

  • Hi Summer! I'm new here as well, and it sounds like we're in pretty much the same boat (minus the great new relationship here ). I'm also 21, and on the verge of graduating from college. It's great to know that there are ladies out there with the same struggles that I have! I look forward to getting to know you, and the others on this forum better!
