Carolinagirl has given some really good advice to start yourself in the right direction. Small changes, that you incorporate consistently will have the most long term impact. Tracking your food is so important... because being aware of how many calories, fat, and carbs we are putting into our body everyday is the key to making the necessary changes. I also think that portion control is vital. Measure and weigh everything when you are tracking it... accuracy will be a big help to you.
Coming here for support and encouragement is also a very good step...
