Default Seeking Health And Happiness

Hi all

The short and sweet version - a couple of years ago I weighed 250 lbs. and I decided I just had to get my butt in gear! So I lost 65 lbs. (over the span of about a year and a half) simply by regularly exercising and trying to follow a whole, unprocessed foods diet (mostly veggies, meat, dairy, fruit and some whole grains). I got myself down to a 185 lb. size 12 but then totally gave in to laziness and food, I pretty much quit.

For the past year I have exercised sporadically at best, eaten mostly junk and gone back up to 205 over the span of about 15 months. I'm desperately out of shape and feeling a bit disgusted and frustrated. I need to recommit. Tomorrow will be my first day in the gym in 3 months! I plan on pretty much doing the same thing as last time as far as diet and exercise go. Just thought it would be nice to have a place to come to discuss, vent, encourage, cry, whatever!

I think I want to lose about 45 lbs. although I'm not so concerned about the scale as I am simply being lean and fit. Although the weight loss is my main goal right now my long term ultimate goal is to just be very healthy feeling and in excellent physical shape. I want fit to be my middle name! I don't really have a time frame but it'd be really great if I lost the weight by sometime this summer, then I can really focus on increasing my fitness and muscle.

Welcome Seeker! Losing weight is one thing, maintenance is a whole other bear---and yet so similar! Surf around and settle in. We have lots of subforums based on age, exercise, eating plan and more. Check out the Maintainers section where we work hard to keep the weight off.
