I'm 25 years old, 5'6 and started at 185, now I'm at 160. I exercise, but I'd definitely qualify that as low to moderate. I eat 1500 calories a day (cycle a little, but most days I'm 1492 or something), and I have lost at least 2 pounds a week since I started. I would think that you're just fine with more calories, since you exercise more than I do. Try out 1600 for a week or two and see what happens! Could be a fun 100 calories!
