Good Morning Chix! Another fab day on the beach Coffee's on when you're ready
The snow melted yesterday but refroze in the afternoon. Walking home from the bus stop was a real treat (note the sarcasm) . Need to go to the grocery tonight after work to get a few things and them I'm going to make a batch of meatball bake tonight.
If I want to be on time, I better get crackin! What's goin on your side of the world?
Good early morning. I need at least a couple of cups of that coffee to get going this morning - I take mine black.
Icy, icy day here in Nova Scotia - school has been called off, so the kids are glad to have the day to sleep in. I wish that was an option for me, lots of work awaits at the office.
All is well on my beach. I haven't written much lately, but I have been following phase two with some great results. The first week, the scale did not move, but it is moving nicely now. I cannot believe the change in my clothes. My scale has gone into hiding. I will get on it next week, but I was getting a bit too consumed with it, so I got DH to hide it, and have been focused on my eating, and it seems to be working.
Have a good day everyone - if it is slippery where you are, be extra careful!
Is that coffee still hot, Elusive? I'd love a big mug of it, please. Be very careful walking on that icy stuff today! Maybe some of our warm weather will blow over there to help melt it all away.
It's extrememely windy this morning, and I can hear it blasting against the windows. The power went out right before Jake left for work, and has been off and on since then. Luckily I was able to rush through my shower before it went out again. It seems to be pretty steady for now, though, although it's going to be a bad hair day.
I'm supposed to get my laptop back this morning, and I'll be so glad to have it back. Apparently there were a lot of things going on with it, but it's all fixed up now and even better than new. It will be nice not to have to sit up here all isolated in the guest room, although this old desktop computer and I have come to an understanding and are friends now.
Good morning. By this afternoon our fake Spring will be over and we'll be back to cold weather. Extreme winds are predicted but I'll be snug and warm inside with three dogs. Jazz's brother is coming for a playdate which will be interesting. I'll sit and sew and laugh. Nobody has more fun than puppies!
Jenny, great title again! I miss theatre. Careful on the ice.
Celtic, I'm glad Phase II is going well for you. I wish I was strong enough to hide my scale.
Cottage, we are getting your wind this afternoon and I'm sure our power will go off. I still don't know how to start my generator so will fill the bathtub this morning. I can manage without heat or light but sure like to have water. Of course, if I'm prepared, it won't happen.
Hubby got up and left real early this morning. Auston didn't hear him leave, so hopefully he'll wake up happy this morning. My sweet, precious 5 year old got sent to the office at school yesterday! For the first time, I'm sure not the last in his school career. Apparently, he put his little finger in his teacher's face and informed her, "I'm tired of putting up with you!" I can hear him say it! Lord knows, I've said it to him! So, we had a talk about respect and consequences -- and he suffered some. Where is that instruction book that was supposed to come when he was born???
Jenny, Be safe on the ice! Someone around here had a picture of something you strap to your shoe to safely walk on ice. Do you have those?
Cottage, Don't you love bad hair days? At least everyone will have one with you today.
Ruth, Crank up your fireplace in case the power goes out. A big quilt, a cup of something steamy and a roaring fire sounds like a nice way to spend an afternoon.
Good morning Chicks. Not feeling theatrical or chatty this morning. I woke up at 4:30 with a raging headache, a sure sign the massage wasn't enough. Of course I have an evening meeting today. Ah well, this too shall pass.
Elusive - thanks for the curry recipe. I have a basic eggplant spinach curry recipe that I love and adapt for everything I discovered that it works in the crockpot too, which makes me very happy. I'll have to try your version soon. I love new spice combinations.
Celtic - I hate ice! Hope everyone is at home and safe today.
Cottage - The wind is heading here later. Glad to hear that laptop is coming home soon. I missed my desktop when it was sick. It's nice to have a back-up but not the same.
Ruth - Enjoy the doggie playdate
Longish day here. I've got a witch doctor appt. at 10 then office all day with a 6 pm meeting. I suspect there will be lots of coffee.
I think I'm giving up the C25K idea. I don't know that it has anything to do with my back and I can't exactly ask since both doctors have told me not to run Sometimes being stubborn does not pay. I'm feeling a bit whiny today so will get out of here before I bore everyone
Cyndi -- What kind of doctor did you see? And, PLEASE explain witch doctor. There are sports medicine orthopedic doctors. When Tiger Wood hurt his knee, they didn't say, "Don't play golf." When Michael Jordan hurt his shoulder, they didn't say, "Your NBA career is over!" "Don't Run" is a bad answer. If you have good insurance, find a doctor who will fix it! Just my opinion...
Celtic: Congrats with your good results! Having a scale in the house can make one a bit obsessive! I refuse to buy one, cause I know I would never be off it!!
Cottage: Thanks for the warmer wishes! Glad your laptop is back.
Ruth: Thanks...it's amazing what one can come up with pre coffee! Get those candles ready just in case!
Chelby: Naw, I don't have those things...just my tims. Did you see I answered your query re the shrimp yesterday? You can put just about anything in curry...I like l/f pork, or beef, or burger meat, or even cauliflour or zuchinni!
BTW: Your son is hilarious...at least he can stand up for himself!
Cyndi: Glad you're diggin the curry! I hadn't ever had curry till I moved over but I must say, I really like it. Just you mind your back now!!!
It is snowing then raining here...ahhh wintry mixes! One of the pregnant ladies at work slipped and fell outside. I think she may have gone over on her ankle and her and her husband are at the hospital. Better heat up my taco bake or I'll never eat it.
Oops, my warped sense of humor again witch doctor = naturopath
The thing about professional athletes is that doctors would tell them to stop if it would do any good. Ever wonder why so many retired athletes are addicted to pain meds and/or illegal drugs? Many have lifetime pain because of reinjuring joints. I'm stubborn but I'm not completely stupid (or so I like to believe )
From the sports med back specialist ortho - "I really specialize in lumbar problems and don't know much about thoracic injuries" I don't want to sound whiny but I've been to several orthos, the spine clinic, the pain clinic, a neurologist, 2 rheumotologists, and a physiatrist and it's a dead end. The answer usually is something like, we don't really have any answers but we can give you these lovely pills. I'm not big on the lovely pills. These days I'm all about massage, chiropractic and eating the right diet. At least those things don't come with a laundry list of side effects. I've got both degenerative disk and degenerative joint disease, both autoimmune. Gotta love families Anyway, enough of the poor me nonsense.
Thanks for being my cheering section Just because I'm not running doesn't mean I can't find other high intensity workouts. That spinning bike is on top of my list!

Cyndi, that's a shame your massage didn't help much yesterday. I've asked you before if you have a good orthopedic contour pillow. I highly recommend getting one if you don't. Make sure it's a superior quality one, though. I have bursitis in my neck, and it has really helped a lot.
Elusive, I hope your co-worker is OK! That's pretty scary!
Chelby, I hope Auston has a better day in school today and is friends with his teacher once again.
Ruth, have fun supervising the puppy playdate today!
Yikes, Jenny, that's not any fun! I got a pair of Yaktrax this year and they are my new best friends. They would have gotten you home safe and sound last night. Thanks for starting us up today!
Celtic! I don't think we've "met" before. Congrats on the results of all your hard work--and on being wise enough to realize when the scale has become an impediment. You've found a great creative solution!
Glad you're getting your 'puter back, Cottage! I may need to have someone look at my laptop, though with the economy and all the layoffs at DH's job, I really hesitate to spend the money. It's running incredibly slow all of a sudden, though the virus scans have found nothing. I think there's a problem with Flash. Hope your power gets more stable! Do you have aboveground lines?
Your afternoon sounds wonderful, Ruth! Wish I could see the puppies play. How fun!
Oh, Chelby, your little guy is adorable! I bet his teacher was laughing about it later that day. Hope you can find that instruction book...
Cyndi, you're such a dear, I know you must really be in pain and frustrated today to not be your normal self. Hope you feel much better soon--any chance the Witch Doctor has any magic potions? Hopefully DP will help you out when you get home tonight. Does she do good massages? Sending lots of good thoughts your way today. Have you tried acupuncture? Being terrified of needles, I've never tried it, but my SIL has, and she really finds it helpful. A friend of mine also recently had some amazing results with one of those thingies that helps you lie nearly upside down (do you know what I mean?). She says you don't actually have to go upside down to get the benefits...45 degrees in that direction is enough to really help her.
Me:
Had a great time at the show last night. It was amazing and the costumes were to DIE for. I love anything sparkly and there were sparkles galore on that stage!
Tonight is back to the grind--though DH is making dinner. It's a not-very-SBD-friendly dinner in that we're having brats. DH loves them. My only request is to avoid cooking them in beer all day. I'll have mine on a WW roll and we're having very SBD-friendly coleslaw on the side. He'll finish the rest of the pack (which we brought back from Usinger's in Milwaukee the last time we were visiting his family) and I'll go back to beachy eating. My arteries will breathe a sigh of relief, I bet!
I have water aerobics tonight. We didn't get a sample from Angel last Tuesday, so I need to get up early tomorrow to try to get another and rush it to the vet before my 10:00 PT appt. That's about it in my world today, though the weekend looks more fun. Tomorrow night we have a couples' night at church--focusing on the Five Love Languages, it should be a lot of fun. Then on Saturday night we're going to a charity evening to support the local Catholic High. There'll be a live band, lots of room for dancing, and dinner catered by the restaurant where we we often go on special occasions. The menu sounds SBD safe as long as I bring some WW crackers and avoid the desserts. I'm planning on making some SBD-safe brownies in little heart pans on Friday for DH and me, and some cheesy-carrot doggy muffins in other little pans for Angel. Knowing that's at home, I can avoid the desserts at the dance.
What are your Valentine's plans? I know some people are down on the holiday, but I've always considered it a special day to let EVERYONE you love know how much you care about them, especially friends and family. I sent out a ton of valentines on Monday.
Good Morning chicks. Probably not much of a post today, boss called and it seems he has got a bug of some sort so I am at the office alone. Says he will be here in a couple of hours, frankly I am hoping not, I would rather work alone today then deal with him sick.
Seems I am slowly getting back on track finally, now for the weather to just get nice so I can get outside!
To all of you to my east, batten down the hatches, we had wind gusts up to 55 mph yesterday! My whole house was shaking lastnight but thankfully we never lost power.
Hope all is well in your world. Have a safe and beachy day!
I AM going to say Hi today before I get totally buried in work. Yesterday was 13 hours and the worst was after 5. At least tonight is Roundtable so someone else has the late shift.
At least I only have 4 more of the guys from India to train. We only overlap shifts for a couple of hours so if I don't catch them then, it has to wait.
Good morning everyone! I am off to my follow-up with the doctor regarding my swollen lymph node and luckily it has almost completely gone down!! So, then it is a busy day of work! I have taco bake all ready to go for dinner tonight -- yum!
Morning chicks- it is raining here and our driveway is slippery one of my moms wipeout as they got here before we got the sand and salt down althoug I am not sure how much good it will do it is raining like crazy. I have my youngest dd home today feeling under the weather and cranky wee ones. Must be the weather. I hope we don't get Ruthsweather, I am enjoying the mild temps. But I am sure it won't last. Eating is going well and I am drinking lots of lipton green and white teas, I just can't do plain water and they do not have aspartame they have splenda which if I am correct is better. Still no diet coke it has been over a week now. I am hoping to finally kick the habit. Well I got to dash hope you all have a great day and I will try to pop in during nap time.
