Default HALP calorie counting a late night eating

It's only day 3 for me but I've been doing good and I'm pretty proud of myself for that. The only thing is I'm currently a student, sometimes I'm running from class to the gym or from class to a meeting. Is it really bad for me to be eating my last meal at 8 at night? I've heard it's not very good for you but I mean I'm up until 1 am easy.
should I opt for a meal bar instead of an actual meal when this happens?

eating late at night is better than not eating. eating at night stay clear of carbs if possible. if i have to eat late at night i eat meat of fish with poached eggs and lots of leafy green veg as its filling and low in carbs.

foods high in fibre and drinking lots of water is also good as it has all night then to push through the days food

I actually have class from 5:30 to 10 pm Monday and Wednesday nights and when I get home those days I am RAVENOUS! Though I eat a large salad with chicken for dinner at around 4:30 pm, when I get home I either eat some 100 cal popcorn or I have a small salad- just something so I'm not starving when I get to bed.

I agree it is better to eat something rather than go to bed hungry. I know for me if I'm that hungry I won't fall asleep lol.

I don't find that when you eat is as important as how much and what you eat. Having dinner at 8pm really isn't that late if you are up until 1am.

I eat around 6pm and go to bed at 9pm. That's only 3 hours between eating and sleep versus your 5 hours.

I hit my goal weight eating my last meal at 9:00 to 10:00 every night while going to bed at 1:30 to 2:00. I didn't have a problem losing weight while doing this. I think it is important to concentrate on what it is you eat at that time.

i have learned that your body burns cals the same no matter what time of day it is... so if you have to eat at midnight, eat at midnight. but i think you should DEFinitely opt for fresh veggies/fruit/lean protein over a meal bar. whole foods are always the better choice

so in summary
I can eat late as long as I try to avoid carbs... that makes me feel a lot better

Even the carb thing is somewhat controversial...it may have some impact on Human Growth Hormone releases at night, it may not. It certainly isn't well-studied at this point.

I have never paid attention to when I was eating, only what I was eating. As long as the what was good, the when never really seemed to make much of a difference, for me.
