Default Just found stevia packets at Sam's Club!!

I always have a tough time when I go to a restaurant....do I choose sugar (bad for my diabetes) or artificial sweeteners (uhhh...don't like to do that to my body either). At my desk at work, I make my own fresh-brewed iced tea (don't like soda, and trying to do more whole foods, anyways) and love my stevia and agave.

But the packets of stevia at the natural foods store have been pricey.

DH just noticed, and we bought, 200 stevia packets for $9.83 at Sam's Club yesterday, in the supplements aisle! Yahoo!!!. I'll be carrying some of those in my purse, and in my car!!

Just thought I'd share!

Have you checked the carb count on the Stevia packets? The ones I saw (Truvia) were 3 carbs per pack. Yeek.

Stevia and Truvia are not the same thing. If it's a good brand of stevia it will have no carbs.

Does anyone know why truvia has 3 grams of carbs/packet? It lists 0 calories/packet.

Stuff like that usually depends on serving size. I know nothing about either Stevia or Truvia in particular . . . but in general . . . if the serving size is small enough to contain less than .5 gram of the substance, the packager is allowed to call it zero.

For example -- Splenda -- the little packets have no calories and no carbs listed on the package -- but if you use it by the cupful for baking, you should consider it to be .5 gram (2 calories) per tablespoon or 8 grams/32 calories per cup.

Perhaps the Stevia or Truvia works the same way?????
