How's that for alliteration? The sun is going to shine today so Westport Willy, the wimp, will go back into his burrow and sleep for another six weeks. Heck, around here we will get more than six more weeks of winter anyhow.
No crying from Jazz this morning - I guess he's growing up. It's nice to be able to wake up on my terms. I even managed a tub before I came downstairs.
At 8:30 I'm off to Brockville for a machine quilting class. This class is supposed to show us how to handle full-sized quilts without dislocating our shoulders. e. Rob is coming around to do dog duties mid-day. I am so blessed with good friends and am thinking of having an "I Love You" party this month. Maybe with a turkey?
I hope your Monday is shadowless with hopes of Spring. (I know that smiley is for "encore" but it says Spring to me.)
Oh goodness! I totally forgot it is Ground Hog's Day! I love that spring smilie, Ruth!
Well, today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I am sooo ready! I do have a very swollen gland on the left side of my jaw, so I'll try to see the doctor today, but it is likely from all the yucky bugs the girls and I have been fighting this winter -- from RSV and pneumonia to ear infections and the stomach flu we've had it all in this house! Just another reason to have spring arrive SOON!
OK, I need to go make my coffee! I am looking so forward to a good week of "detox" from all of the sugars and processed foods I've been eating lately! I don't even want to get on the scale, but I will so that I can properly track my progress!
Great title for today's thread, Ruth! I admire how you wake up so witty in the morning!
This will only be a 4 day work week for me, as Cindy and her family are going to Vermont, so I'll have Friday off. I'm not sure what I'll do yet, if anything. Today looks to be a somewhat quiet day, there's no piano lessons or anything else planned for after school.
I haven't heard whether Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow or not, but either way, I hope our weather starts turning milder. We haven't been much above freezing since late November!
Cottage, I just realized "Mit" would have made the title completely alliterative.
Harry used to complain about me being so perky in the mornings. The dogs don't seem to mind.
Lauren, a some what belated "Welcome back"! I'm with you on the "first day" thing - new month and new week is a good time to set goals. Aside from weight, I have a few this month for myself.
Ruth -- My MIL is retiring from her nursing job of 32 years the end of this month. The first thing she's going to do is join a local quilting club. She's very excited.
Natalie'sMom -- Hi! We haven't met. I'm sorry your family has been sick. When anyone here gets sick, I become a Lysoling fool.
Cottage -- Stay warm! Your weather would laugh at my coat!
Me: Did you see The Boss on the Superbowl last night? He did a great job! Auston, my 5 year old, said, "Does anyone like that song?" with his big, innocent eyes. I laughed! He doesn't remember the Glory Days.
Not much exciting today -- cleaning, laundry, dinner tonight. I'm thinking meatloaf. If I use oatmeal instead of bread crumbs, it should be SBD friendly. I hope you all have a great day.
Ruth, it sounds like your days when I met you--a tub before going down, indeed! How yummy and decadent. I think your idea for an "I love you" party for friends is FANTASTIC. Since St. V's day lands on a Saturday this year, why not have an afternoon party? I usually use that day to tell my friends how extra special they are to me, especially since a couple are single and find the day very depressing. I'm with you on the perky morning thing.
, Lauren! I don't think we've met! Hope you get that gland taken care of and feel better soon!
Yay for a 3 day weekend, Cottage! You deserve it! It was gloriously beautiful yesterday. 45 and sunny. But I doubt it's likely to stick.
Chelby, too funny about your kids and the Boss. I was introduced to him at their age by my dad, who bought a special record set of the album with Born in the USA. Aw, the good ole' days...
Me:
Not much to report here. The usual-work, gym, home, but I also have to go to a board meeting for a group I'd really like to quit. Only guilt is keeping me there. *sigh* Oh well...
I need to sync my calendars (I'm working with 3, which is a recipe for disaster. I have a lot on my plate but keep forgetting things or missing them. Ack!
Ruth - have fun at quilting class. Good start to a day with a soak.
Cottage - nice that you have a day off this week. Something to look forward to.
Chelby - I was wonder what to make for supper. Meatloaf it will be. Thanks.
Natalie's mom - way to go, you will have a successful week. Kids get sick so often but then the next day they recover. Wish it was the same for us.
Beachgal - don't do guilt. I like to say which part of NO don't you understand.
me - getting more energy back so it means lots of tidying up today but first I am going for a walk at the mall. Haven't walked in a week. Back on plan today.
Sophie
Ruth - Your tub in the morning sounds so lovely! I hope when we get a house this year that it comes with a big tub. I would love a soak every now and again. Have fun at your quilting class.
Nat's Mom - Welcome back. Sorry to hear that you and your family have been under the weather. I hope the Dr. is able to see you.
Cottage - How nice that you'll have a 3 day weekend next weekend. That'll be nice change of pace. Think of doing something that will benefit your soul. You've earned it!
Chelby - We only caught the back end of the Boss. He sounded great. I'm sure your son will learn the virtues of good music soon enough.
Laurie - Seriously you need to sync your calendars, that would drive me batty. Good luck with getting that all figured out.
Sophie - Hope your walk was invigorating!!!
Me - So I put in some money into a football pool on Friday at work. Come to find out, I WON!!!! I don't know how much yet, but just the fact that I won is really cool!!!! It was a really good game, extremely enjoyable. Both teams played so well.
Tonight should be lots of fun as I'm going to go cook at the Ronald McDonald house this evening with my Mom and sister. We're meeting after work and preparing food for the family and careworkers at the home. I'm really looking forward to it! I hope we bring some joy to these families who are dealing with so much. I can't wait!!!!!
Have a wonderful day, ladies!!! BLESSINGS!!!!!
Hey everyone. Woke up with a headache and am feeling a bit nauseated right now. My first thought was dehydration, but I'm taking in TONS of water these days. DH is suspecting sodium deficiency, which would make a lot of sense as I go out of my way to avoid the stuff. I just HATE how it tastes. I had a few licks of salt and am also drinking water. I had to force myself to eat my breakfast, which is definitely unusual. I'll be off to the doctor in the morning if this isn't gone.
I hope everyone else is doing better. The computer screen is getting all blurry, so I'd better get!
Ruth- I like the idea of an I love you Party! so cute! Enjoy your quilting class!
Lauren- I know what you mean about detoxing feeling good- when we came back from vegas I felt the same way, not only the detox part but I was ready for some home-made veggie meals!!!
Cottage- take that extra day to relax! lol I am sure you will have something planned though!
Chelby- your day sounds about like mine... take a lil time for yourself!
beachgal- Sync those things already! you are causing unneccesary stress for yourself! I have two of mine done and the last one will be completed today- a new years resolution
Sophie- good for you for walking and getting back on plan!!! Im right there with ya!
Heather- I think its an awesome thing that you are going to cook for them!!! I really want to get into some community service soon...
Kim- Hope you get to feeling better!!!
Me- well, I am just finishing up breakfast and have a *ton* to do today!!! I plan to do all the laundry, clean the house, run to target, go to the gym or walk the dogs a while(depends on weather when I am done with my chores!), go to verizon to switch phones, and rest lol
Hope everyone has a great OP day!!! I know I am planning to!!!
I have an anxiety problem that is usually pretty easily kept in check...unless the house is a mess. I put on a movie for DS1 and put DS2 down for a nap and just finished the dishes, now I'm moving on to the bathroom.
I'm also going to try and get some laundry folded today - it's all washed, we're just living out of laundry baskets.
Connor was cooperative last night and allowed me to go to bed early. I think this growth spurt is waning because he is going back to his schedule and stopping the cluster feeding -- thank god!
I would also like to take Calvin to the park if we have time. The special time for him is really important, so it's top of my list.
Feeling draggy today, with a very sore throat - I wish I knew if I should go to the doctor or wait it out. I get strep sometimes, but you never know that until you are really feeling rotten.....then it takes so long to get better.
Have a good day all - Monday only comes once a week!
Hey Chicks. I started a post early this morning and then got distracted and behind schedule so didn't have a minute until now (when I'm at work. Should I be doing something else??).
Ruth - I'm so glad Jazz has decided to let you sleep in a little I never understood 6 more weeks of winter being anything unusual. Heck, that would be early a lot of years.
Lauren - Welcome back!
Cottage - You don't want to come to Vermont with them?!
Chelby - I saw Springsteen back in the day and I gotta say he's still hot.
Beach - If it wasn't for guilt I wouldn't get out of bed some mornings
Sophie - Glad to hear you are on the mend.
Heather - How fun to win the pool. Sounds like a nice evening plan.
Kim - wow, sick again what a drag I hope you are back on your feet soon
Rikki - Good luck with all the chores and errands!
Gonna
Zeff - My DD is going to have the same issue once she has children. Have fun at the park
It's just a normal back to work day for me. My friend is now officially out of work for two weeks, so I'm back to my normal schedule. I think it's good for her and the only way she will recover. She is not one of those people who can leave her work for someone else to do so always ends up overdoing.
I indulged in my most decadent cheat in 18 months today and feel icky now. We had a one year celebration for my boss and someone picked up a flourless chocolate truffle cake. I intended to cut my sliver in half but ate the whole piece. Big mistake, must remember the three bite rule next time. It's a yoga night but I may need to find room to squeeze in cardio just to work it off.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday (as good as a Monday can be!)
