So I am a chinese food junkie... seriously, could be my greatest weight-loss weakness.
I've been ordering steamed chicken and mixed veggies about once a week... eventually I'll start adding back brown rice. I can't imagine a better dinner... tons of veggies and lean protein. Anyways, can anyone tell me if the black bean sauce that most takeout places serve of the side is SBD friendly? I've been erring on the side of caution and making my own sauce of soy sauce, sesame oil and garlic, but I do miss the black bean sauce!
I love Chinese, too. Yum! We bought Hot Bean Sauce in the oriental store. I don't have the can any more. Do you have an oriental market close so you can read ingredients?
On a sidenote -- We love hot and sour soup on a cold night. I've had it three times since starting ph2. All three times, I was up 1 pound the next day. I think it was the sodium content of the soup. The weight was always down the second day.
Thanks Maria, I think that answers my question-- I will err on the side of caution and continue to toss the black bean sauce!
Chelby- I've stayed away from hot and sour soup, since I just assumed the corn starch in it couldn't be a good thing. But I have gone out for Shabu Shabu, which is just meat and veggies boiled in a hot pot of broth. Assumed it couldn't be too bad...WRONG! I felt like a blimp the next day; waaayyyy too much sodium. I didn't weigh myself, but I am sure if I did it would have been at least +2!
