Good Morning all..... IIITTTT'''SSSS FFFFRRRIIIDDDAAAYYY! And the weather doesn't look too bad. Sunday we are suppose to reach 40s! crazy, crazy winter, very cold with hits of a day of above freezing when most of the days are single digits, and lots, and I mean record breaking, snowfall! I am hoping the pains calm down enough to walk the pups. Yesterday and the previous night were so bad I couldn't bare it. At one point my boss told me to pack it up and go home, I told her if I did that because of pain I'd never be there! But I think she knew it was real bad yesterday. I stayed at work.
Heather! Congrats on the achievement!
Ruth, I'd love to visit with you on a road trip! And your right, shame on beachgal and me for not meeting up!
OK, it's almost six and I haven't started anything but the coffee, who would like a cup?
Good morning Chicks I'm up and excited because we are off to Gloucester for a weekend of birding adventures. They are running a new birding festival so we will do that and we will get up to Plum Island and down to Plymouth to find the Ivory Gull (arctic rarity not normally seen anywhere south of well, the arctic). It will be a long but fun weekend. We have an efficiency right on the beach so no food worries and a lovely view. DP is looking forward to night photography from the deck.
Lori - when is that appointment? They need to do something for you this is ridiculous.
Cyndi, the appointment is the sixth. Part of the pain yesterday is my fault for shoveling. But I couldn't leave my car hanging half in the road could I? LOL the plowman almost hit it while I was standing out there, imagine if I weren't... white car blends well with the snow!
Old news - we have more snow! At least it's white and clean and smells good. Imagine if it was gray or brown and smelled like poop!
Lori, I do need the coffee this morning. I opened what I thought was a full can and discovered it was arborio rice so I'm drinking instant. I hope the doc can resolve your problem soon.
Cyndi, an efficiency on the shore doesn't sound all that great to me this morning but I'm assuming it's warmer than here. Enjoy the weekend and do share pictures, OK?
This morning I go to town for a haircut and to buy some fruit for a breakfast meeting tomorrow. My appointment is for 9:30 and the good market is nearby so I'm hoping I can avoid the temptation of the dreaded Chinese Buffet. Pray for me!
Time for a tub and to change the bandage on the thumb I sliced yesterday on the dratted mandolin. Yes, I do have a guard but I keep thinking "I'll be careful" and then WHOOPS!
Enjoy your Friday today. I am so glad I can just ignore the Super Bowl!
Ruth - Good morning It will be in the 30s so not very warm but warm enough to enjoy the view from inside the room I'm just glad it's not as cold as it has been. I can easily walk around in this weather (with enough layers, that is!). So sad about the coffee. I've got a couple of extra bags around here but can't figure out how to get them to you via PM.
Lori - Where was your son when you were shoveling? Hope you have an easier weekend.
Cyndi, all the lights were off so I thought he'd gone to his gf's like he said, wasn't until half hour into shoveling I seen the lights go on! He did come out as soon as he knew I was stuck! I'm proud to say he did a wonderful job shoveling the driveway yesterday for me! I get to walk with walls of snow up to my waist!!!!!
Ruth, I choked on my coffee when I read your statement about brown snow! One of Cindy's dogs pooped on the ice yesterday, and the poop slid down the hill! It's a good thing we weren't sledding right there! Hey, I thought I told you you weren't allowed to use that mandolin anymore unless there was another adult around! Seriously, though, I hope it heals quickly.
Cyndi, I hope you have a great birding trip this weekend! I saw a robin yesterday, and couldn't believe it! Maybe he's telling us that we're going to havae an early spring? It sure would be welcome, but it's hard to believe right now. I'm glad you finally got your bike. Funny, though, that they delivered it with no one home.
Loriann, that's too bad that you couldn't get an appointment until the 6th! I bet you are just counting the days. I know you are doing your best to hang in there, and I wish there was something we could do to help you feel better.
So hurray, it's Friday. We spent a good bit of the afternoon yesterday sliding down the icy hills on the farm, and Maggie will probably want to do that again after school today. I despise the ice, but it does look pretty, especially with the sun shining on it. We baked a pie for a dinner party last night, and also baked cupcakes in a pretty flower mold to take to the girl's grandmother who is recovering from surgery. We had a real nice visit with her. I think today we should finish up our Valentine's project and write a few more thank you notes leftover from Christmas.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get my laptop back today, too!
Cottage, the were trying to get me in sooner, but I told them not till after Feb 1st because thats when I became eligible for medical benefits at work!
I've got 4 minutes to eat breakfast and get on a conference call so this will have to be quick. I can't work too late tonight since I have a Twilight Camp meeting at 6:30 at someone else's house. Don's planning on picking up Brian to go do guy stuff so he doesn't have to sit around their house.
I've got to be at an event at 8AM tomorrow morning (40 min away) so I won't get to sleep in. Hopefully I can get everything done during work today so I won't have to come on and finish up after the meeting tonight.
Happy Friday chicks!
Here's you weekly public service announcement from your friendly certified safety professional: Use your mandolin safety guards! They are provided for a reason! Any more incidents and I will start taking them away.
I wish we had snow right now, all we have is ICE. It's an adventure getting to the car and yesterday walking DD to school we had to walk in the street most of the way. At least the roads are clear. We had some sun yesterday, but just enough to melt the top layer so it could refreeze nice and smooth again last night.
At least the kids have a full school day today, so I will be able to work in peace and quiet. I guess pizza night at mom's tonight, depending on the state of her driveway.
Alabama is getting snow on Monday! -- So 'they' say. Get the milk!
I was up all night last night. My tummy was real upset. Yuck! But, I have stuff to do today. I need a haircut. Need groceries. I'm out of eggs!!! Tonight my 13 year old niece is in a beauty pageant. She is beautiful in her 'princess' dress.
