PCOS Definition:
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) – A genetically-linked hormonal imbalance that prevents ovulation. PCOS also may cause overproduction of estrogen, abnormal thickening of the uterine lining, very heavy and/or irregular periods, as well as acne and facial hair. The latter are caused by an overproduction of male hormones, including testosterone. -- There are tons of info out there on the web, so if you want more info, just go to your favorite search engine (Google, Yahoo, etc) and type in PCOS. Another great site (besides this one of course for info is: Soul Cysters. Also here are a couple links for Forum Abbreviations: Basic Forum Abbreviations and the TTC/Infertility Abbreviations
So please come and join us, won't you? If you or someone you know has PCOS and you want support in WL and just general everyday support, please come and join us. If you do not have PCOS and maybe are just curious about the disease, then feel free to join us as well. Everybody is Welcome!!
Wow A Whole Year, Gone.................and now another Month......
What Goals did I accomplish in 2008:
Changing my hair style and color, wearing make-up, dressing nicer. Being more open with people, continuing to lower my blood sugar/cholesterol, and basically being a more positive, happier person!
What have I accomplished so far this year:
1) I have lost 35 pounds!!! I weighed myself and found out I was 35 pounds LIGHTER than I thought!!! WHOO-YEAH!
2) I was able to fit into jeans that I hadn't been able too in awhile!!
3) Have consistently ate sensibly and tried to eat as healthy as I can, when possible, I haven't been an angel, but I think I am doing pretty darn good!
4) Made a Gyn appt for Feb. 25th!!!
Goals for this month:
1) Find and make an appt. with a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE)
2) to continue eating healthy
3) incorporate some sort of exercise
4) To become pregnant!!!
This isn't just about PCOS. It is about Life and wanting to get out there and LIVE IT. It doesn't matter if you have PCOS, Endometreosis, Diabetes, or just a bad hair day, we all want one thing: To Look AND most importantly: FEEL better. At least I do. Share your daily struggles, and/or your daily accomplishments!!!
Together, we can do this, I KNOW we can!!!
Everybody is
Some come on in, get a cupa whatever and join us in a chat.
I also wanted to add a personal note here. I have come so far and this year is just the beginning of the new me yet to come! So if you are out there and struggling and think it will NEVER happen to you, it can! I am living proof! I have struggled with my weight ALL my life and these last 10 years especially were tough. But I have FINALLY seen results and so I can say IT WORKS, so DON'T QUIT! I am not pregnant yet, but that is my next step!!! Also this is the most AWESOMEST group of people you will ever talk too! They are completely and totally WONDERFUL!
****PLEASE NOTE: I also wanted to add a link for a book that I think is very important for every woman to read, not just women experiencing Infertility Problems: Taking Charge of Your Fertility By: Toni Weschler, MPH. It is very very informative about our cycles, how to tell when you are ovulating, etc, etc. It is a great book to have! I know with the economy a lot of us are "tightening" our wallets, but I bought mine at half-priced bookstore for $6. Also there is the library. Just giving out suggestions because it is a good book to read! Also another book I am currently reading: "Getting Pregnant and Staying Pregnant Overcoming Infertility and Managing Your High Risk Pregnancy" By Diana Raab, B.S. R.N. Very good with LOADS of great info!!
Hello Yes I have already started the Feb. thread because I will be concentrating on packing and moving!!! So feel free to continue to post in the Jan. Thread until the end of the month!!!
DON'T POST HERE UNTIL FEB. 1ST!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Kitkatkitty - how did you enjoy San Francisco?? Did you go to any other cities?I live about 20 min away in the east bay and I LOVE it here. Hope you had fun!!
JENN -- Sorry, yeah I was asked by Nicoyaangel to go ahead and start a new thread since I'd be busy with packing and what not this month. So I started it early.
Hello again ladies!!!! I had a great January once all was said and done! I hit my mini goal weight of 215 for the month and actually started to exercise almost consistently. Got a little off track this week due to TOM (happy to say though that it's here again for the 2nd month in a row! even if it is a little bit late ) but I'm hoping once the cramps stop hurting so much and the flow slows down a little I'll be back in the gym! Anyway, you ladies are doing awesome!!!! Good luck with your move Sassy!
good luck ladies! i can't say if my january was good or bad since it was the first official month of my diet. i guess february will bring the truth. scary.
Nico - My trip was AMAZING!! oh my i'd go back in a hearbeat! I just fell in love with the bay area! We drove through Cali from Tucson (to LA and then on to San Fran) and from San Fran we hopped the BART to Berkeley (which was awesome as well!).. I'll try to post some pictures from the trip if I can figure out how I went with my best friend, Jorge.. whom I love dearly.. that's another long story
Welcome to February ladies!
Even though last month was a sucky one for me, I'm claiming that this one will be a better one! With the exception of Valentine's Day Seeing as I'm single (yet again, and no, I dont need a fortune cookie to tell me that(yes one actually did tell me that) and half of my heart is in Tucson, I'm not really looking forward to Valentine's Day.. BUT I claim a good month for me.. and for ya'll!
My February goals:
Keep up the exercise that I started in January:
- 3 times a week on the track (walking/jogging)
- 4 times a week video workout at home (integrating small weights)
Continue to eat clean
Stay on my metformin
Kitkatkitty - I'm glad you had fun. I LOVE Bart. I told my fiancé that one day I'm going to hop and ride around without getting off to go sight seeing haha ... Beats wasting gas. Come back soon!!
Jen - sorry I was so anxious to start February and keep on track I asked Sassy to do it early :-D
As for me lazy started kicking in but I watched my motivation biggest loser and then looked down at my tummy and realized it's empty in there and I want a mini. I want to start trying by the end of the year so I am hitting the gym tomorrow. Today I was bad and had little caesers pizza and Italian bread. Sooooo good ... But I am going back to subway and getting back on track tomorrow. I didn't even wear my body bug today. Not a good sign :-/
I watched the biggest loser last night too. It's the only show I will fight for one of the Tv's for. I really thought they would keep the sliver team because of the drama they brought. At least the brown team will get another week.
I lost 1.6 pounds at my meeting yesterday My goal is to lose 48 pounds before TTC. Hopefully my cycles will find their way to some kind of normal by then too.
My goals for this month:
no eating after 8pm
start some kind of exercise program
not to miss any meeting because of something less important<-- When I don't want to go anything is more important
Yea me too but then again I was hoping the brown team would stay because like the dad said their team want to be there. Joelle had to go. She was taking all of Bobs attention. I've watched this show so many times an I have never seen him get that crazy!!
I swear if Joelle was going to be around any longer I think Bob woulda had a coronary The poor man. The week he went off I just wanted to go hug him the poor thing.
On a personally note, I did so awful this week with eating. I've been hitting the gym pretty religiously and kick butt in there but my eating sucks!!!! I can't seem to stop feeding my face and it's with all kinds of junk! What's the matter with me??? *puts head in hands* uuuuuuuugh! Well at least tomorrow starts a new week for me since tomorrow is my weigh in day but my gosh, I haven't been this bad in months. But it's time to just put it in the past and rely on one of my best qualitys: resilience.
this week is a disaster for me, both eating and exercise-wise. have had plans every night this week so no chance to get to the gym. and tonight had a date at a mexican restaurant/bar. not helpful.
i'm doing a 5k at the end of next week (my first) with the weight lost forum, should be interesting.
