Question nutrition facts for your recipes???

Is there a web site you guys trust to put in your recipes and get the nutrition facts? I found one but I don't think I trust it that much. Its just way to hard for me to figure out how many calories I am eating with everything I put in the meal. Unless its a super simple meal! Thanks for any help!

I'm looking for one too.
In fact I don't eat a lot of things I would like to eat, because I don't know what the calories would be for a serving. This is one thing I didn't like about WW points, I wouldn't know what the points would be if I fixed a recipe without all the facts.
If you find one let us know.

caloriecount.
about.

I'm not allowed to enter in links, so... it's one line with no spaces.
You can just input a recipe and how many servings it is and it will tell you how many calories are in each serving. You can also click on each item after you've input it and it will tell you the calorie analysis for each - so if you've got lower calorie chicken sausage or something, you can do that part of the math yourself. It can't figure out some things - I've had trouble with recipes that include beer... and sometimes you have to change the way the measurement is written (1/8 cup vs 2 tablespoons). All in all it's pretty great.

This is the best I have found also.

I use The Daily Plate for my daily calories but when I make a recipe, I just enter each ingredient and then divide the total by the number of servings and presto! Works a charm ... Good luck!

I just do them by hand. It's really a pain, but there can be real differences in brands of ingredients, and fat, fiber, and protein content.

I do the same thing. I really like that you can save them as meals, so you don't have to reenter something that you eat often.

I use Lose It for the iPhone (it's free). There is a feature where you put in the ingredients and it does the work of telling you the calories per serving. It's really convenient and easy to use.

I used the calorie count site, but it tells me the serving size is 87 grams -- how the heck much is that in cups? I tried the convert function but it told me it could not do the conversion for whatever reason.

My first criteria before I buy a cookbook is...nutrition info. At a bare minimum it has to have cals, fat, carbs, protein.

I enter the whole recipe into Fitday as a custom food (and divide by number of portions) and it's there for next time I make it.

I'm with fiberlover...if it's something I'm making on my own, I'll add it up by hand on paper, using the actual numbers on the ingredients I'm using. Generally I'll add everything separately (the calories for each ingredient, fat, sodium and so on), then divide by number of servings I'm making to find out the per-serving nutrition values.

I mainly use Calorie King. I too will write down each ingredient and it's calories. I have to do it this way because I only cook for two and most recipes are for 4-6 servings. I also substitute ingredients if I don't have everything I need.

I do like Allrecipes though.

I usually just look it up and do it by hand because of the difference of ingredients, too. I keep the info on stuff I make all the time so I don't have to figure it out every single time I make it. Plus it's easier for me to do it on the fly while I'm cooking than to enter it anywhere. I make my husband to the math while I'm cooking.

As an aside, I love my scale. I weigh or look up the calories for every ingredient in my nutrition book, then weight the whole thing (a pot full rice and beans for instance). That way I can get a count per ounce and I don't have to worry about measuring by cups. I'm just too good at packing a cup so full it ends up being more than it should be! Weight just seems to be so much more accurate for me. Plus, my scale will switch back and forth from ounces to grams, which is really helpful. It's amazing how much I can love the scale in my kitchen when I hate the one in the bathroom.

I use the daily plate Saved Meal feature as well, it's sometimes a bit tedious but it's the most accurate way I've found to track it. The process of tracking the meals I cook takes time but it's almost therapeutic, helpful in feeling in control and educated.
