Default Out of shape and in PAIN

Hello friends....

I just have to share my frustration and discomfort.... yesterday during my lunchbreak I went walking around the Navy base with one of my co-workers.... She is absolutely gorgeous and VERY IN SHAPE.... We power walked 3.5 miles and this morning, I am SO SORE that sitting on the toilet was next to impossible... I used to be an athlete.... I can't believe how out of shape I have become in the last 6 years.... I am so depressed AND SORE.... sorry to vent.... I am just mad at myself...

Still, you did it. I read somewhere some quote something like "All that matters is what you're doing this very moment," which has been really helpful for me in weightloss. If what I'm doing at a particular moment is good, I don't have to feel ashamed of what I've done before, or worried about what I'll do the next day. If it's not good, I change that, but it looks like you've got that part down. The soreness means you're getting stronger, so congratulations on your new muscle tone!

Good for you for doing it!! Next time will be better and it will get easier. But I hear ya. Nothing for me is worse than getting INTO shape. It is very very difficult.

You deserve a dancing carrot!

I have no scientific support for this notion but ... in my head I think that if my muscles still hurt, they're still using calories. And I take ibuprofen

I think there's probably some threads about muscle soreness in the Resistance Training threads.

YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!

You got up and DID IT. You will be right back into shape before you know it. The human body is AMAZING. And very forgiving. Look at that soreness as a sign that change is on the way!!!

Take a nice hot bath and drink a cup of some soothing tea. And imagine yourself powerwalking with ease. Because that's how it's going to be.

Good for you for getting out there, as out of shape as you might feel 3.5 miles is an unbelievable effort. The soreness happens to me too every time I start up with the exercise. A good incentive is knowing that if I stick with it the soreness will go away. These days when I'm sore I know I've done a hard workout that has challenged my muscles in a way that they are unaccustomed to. I also take tylenol from time to time and finds that helps. I wish you good luck on your weight loss journey.

Don't worry! Keep it up! I bet in about a week or so you'll stop being sore if you keep doing that exercise. I felt just like that when I was doing squats and lunges for my weight training class a couple of years ago. After a week of doing it every day, it didn't hurt anymore. ^_^ I'm sure you can do good!!!

170starting-
I know exactly where you're coming from! I've been active most of my life and played sports in high school, but thought I was going to die as I was walking around the track with a friend of mine the other day! My legs were on fire, I was completely out of breath, and I had to keep asking her to slow down. It was pathetic and showed me just how out of shape I am.

I know how much it hurts to know just how far out of whack your body is. But, the other posters are right-- you made it through! And, next time you'll be a little less sore. And you'll be even less sore the time after that. Keep up the good work!

I do my best to get out and exercise as much as I can.
I play floor hockey once or twice a week for about 2 hours at a time, I try to walk for an additional 2 hours a week, and on occasion I play indoor badminton.
At the end of it all, I often HURT the next day something awful.

In conclusion, I sympathize.
Here's hoping our bodies get to adjusting sooner than later! Be proud of yourself for getting out and active. Keep it up! ^_^!!

I LOOOOOOVE having sore muscles. That means I'm working them and they are growing/repairing. Yay!

And you know, I usually work out 4x weekly and think I'm in fairly decent shape. However, I did the 30-day shred on Saturday and for 3 DAYS I was soooo sore. Only today have my calves stopped hurting. So, different things hurt in different ways. Whenever I do Tabata squats after not having done them for awhile, I seriously cannot sit on the toilet without almost crying for 4 days!

But to me, it's a good thing! lol.
