Default why do i feel weak in the afternoon?

Im not sure what it is but the past couple of days ive started to feel really weak and funny just before/after lunch time. i'm not sure whether its because i was really hungry just before lunch but couldnt get time to eat because i am so busy at work or im not getting enough of the right food in?

For example this is what ive eaten so far
breaky-8 am- 1 nectarine and glass of grapefruit juice with spirilina (a green vegies sort of substitue powder)
morning snack-10 am- 15 almonds

(now about 12 is where i start getting really hungry and light headed but really couldnt get away from desk w/ phone ringing every second)

lunch-12 45 pm- 2 peices of sour dough w/ avocado tomatoe and baked beans

now its 2pm and that weak lightheaded sort of feeling still hasnt gone away?

do you think this is because i waited to long/didnt get enough food into me? and my blood sugar level dropped seriously low?

Definitely could be. Your body still needs some form of sugar, it depends on it. I'd try to tac on some type of fruit to lunch and see if that helps.

It sounds like you're barely eating anything and it's no wonder you're dizzy.

You're really not getting enough food in.
Try adding protien to your breakfast & morning snack. (Eggs, cheese, Oatmeal, etc...) And make sure to have something really hearty for breakfast!

You're REALLY not eating much food! I think that's why! Even after your lunch, that's not much food (from what I can tell!)

Try a bigger breakfast AND snack and see how you feel! Eat something that will stick with you like protein or fiber! Remember the ultimate goal is to keep the weight off that you lose -- to do that you need to develop sustainable habits.

Give it a try and let us know!

Yea, I agree, looks like not enough food in the morning. Try adding in some carbs and protein for breakfast and see how you feel. Oatmeal, a slice of toast with an egg, peanut butter, etc.

Yeah, I agree. You're not really eating enough. How many calories do you eat daily?

ok so i pretty much cycle my calories from 1300 to 1800 during the week ( and yes i use fit day so i am adding it up correctly), i understand completely that this isnt enough food for the whole day but as i said- i am not a big breakfast person and after drinking that juice with the green stuff in it you can barely fit anything in after it. I always make my calories for the day and from all your comments it just shows i need to balance it up a bit more right? i was just asking, i think its funny on this site how some times you ask for advice and people automatically assume your not trying to lose weight the right way (like i am- i just some times need some help now and then like every does) and they leave comments like your a complete ******!

sorry i dont mean to be a ***** some of you did leave really helpful comments, it just annoys me sometimes but its probbaly my fault for not explaining properly!

tarryn I was just curious. Because I know if I don't eat breakfast (or a decent size one) it usually throws my calories off for the day AND I tend to get hungrier throughout the day and experience the light headedness. Believe me, I'm not a breakfast person either, and I am trying to get into the groove of eating a hearty one every day. It really helps.

I rotate these three breakfasts during the week:
#1 - 1 cup whole grain cheerios, 1/2 cup skim milk, 1/4 cup blueberries, sprinkle of sliced almonds
#2 - 1 whole grain english muffin, 1/4 cup egg beater, 1 slice cheese, 2 slices turkey bacon, 1 light & fit yogurt
#3 - 1 packet oatmeal, 3 turkey sausage links/3 slices turkey bacon, piece of fruit

I usually take 2-3 snacks with me to work: 2 clementines, 1oz mixed nuts, 1 serving wheat thins with a wedge of laughing cow cheese. Small, "pop-able" snacks that are easy to eat.

And I would suggest adding something to your lunch. A sandwich just doesn't seem as satisfying to me.

I will defintly try what you suggested, yeh i eat most of my calories in the afternoon but it is now just obvious i need to really spread them out more especialy breakky/morning snack. its just you know those days where your really unorganised and just have nothing planned and your trying so hard not to go the wrronnng way..haha thanks for the advice

Well, in defense of whoever posted the thing you found offensive, many people who come onto these boards are quite young, or just plain inexperienced, and really DON'T know the things you and I might find obvious. Don't take the comment as a personal affront. There are many, many posters on this board, and unless we were to take the time to read through each person's posting history, none of us could necessarily determine from your post (and the tiny breakfast you seem to be eating) that you're a knowledgeable dieter who knows enough to eat sensibly over the course of the day.

Thats true but even if i didnt know what i was doing, dont you think an earlier dieter might deserve some helpful critisism rather than the negative sarcastic type, even if they are doing the wrong thing?

I'm sorry that your feelings have been hurt Tarryn. Most folks on 3FC do try to be helpful and most truly care for your wellbeing. It's just so hard to get emotion and inflection across in the written word. Sometimes we have to imagine that the poster is gently patting our arm when they say something short and sweet.
Rest assured that nobody thought they could fix you with a sharp word. You're doing just fine and had a legitimate and troublesome problem.

Tarryn -- I'm sorry if anything I wrote came across the wrong way. It really IS hard to convey the proper emotion online. Those smiley faces only go so far.

I tried in my post to say things like "I think" rather than "I know". I never meant to imply you are a "******". I was just commenting that for the whole morning it sounded like you only had a few hundred calories, and I know I would be swooning by then. I didn't know that you don't like to eat breakfast, or don't feel hungry in the morning.

FWIW, I've sometimes felt the same way when I've asked for advice or just made posts about what I do over the years I've been here. People misinterpret each other sometimes. So, I apologize if you took what I said the wrong way, but know that it may happen again! At least, that's been my experience!

Sorry, Tarryn. It is impossible to read everyone's history before posting. I can read what you wrote in the first post, and it still sounds like you're barely eating anything. I can't help that. There was no sarcasm intended, I'm sorry you read sarcasm into it. Rather, I meant exactly what I said, that I had no wonder that you'd be dizzy on that food. I'm glad you got answers you found more helpful.
