Default Newbie here...

Hello,

This is my first post on the board and I thought I'd post a little something to tell you all a bit about myself.

I was born and raised in Chicago till I was about 16, that's when my mother who was going through through a divorce at the time moved us to Milwaukee so we could stay with my Grandmother. Milwaukee is by no means a small city but after living in Chicago for most of my life Wisconsin was a drastic change of pace. It also didn't help that we had moved into a bad part of town, so I pretty much kept to myself and stayed home all the time instead of going out and being active like I had before. The weight kept piling on.

I've been on a diet off and on since I was 19. I lost all my weight and had gotten down to 170 pounds but went through a bad break-up and the weight shot up again. For a while afterwards, I didn't care what my weight was or how big I was getting. If you didn't like me for me then tough, that was my motto for the longest time.

I could make excuses for why I haven't exercised and watch what I eat but really there are none. So I made a New Year's resolution to lose weight and feel good about myself. Finally! I feel like joining this community was the right thing and with all the support from you guys I feel like I can accomplish my goal.

Welcome!
There are many great things about this site, but for me, it's knowing I'm not alone in my struggles. We all lose sight, and as we grow and mature realize that what may have served us in the past (I used to be thick skinned too) may not be what's best for us in the future. I wish you well on all your goals. Keep us posted on your progress!

Hi there

!

We definitely love to support everyone in losing weight! But we have a saying around 3FC, somewhat of a motto. We aren't really here to diet our way down, we're here to make permanent changes to the way we eat & move in order to take the weight off & to KEEP it off.

If you take a look at the Maintainers area, you'll see that's what those lads & ladies down there are actually doing. And it's quite inspiring. They're all role models for us on the 'losing' part of our journey.

You may want to check out the 100 lb Club (a group for those with 100 lbs or more to lose), and of course any other group that grabs your interest. Post wherever you feel comfortable.

Let us know what your eating & exercising plans are We can help point you in the right direction.

Best of success!
