Default 300+ Weekly Thread #1192

WELCOME!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!

Morning ladies..

Well TOM arrived Sat night with FULL avengeous! I tell ya! So looks like for exercise I will mainly be doing arms lifts and things. Nothing major. BUT hopefully he will leave soon adn I can get on with this. I am going to make an appointment to see the gyno to see if he can put me on the depo shot. I don't want to take birth control BUT They say that you dont ahve a period with that. I dont know yet. I was on birth control many moons ago and it made me sick. BUT this not having a life for a week or more a month is getting really irritating.

Yesterday I went and had lunch with my aunt. We shared artichoke and spiniach dip. I have never had that before it was good. Then we had a chicken salad. We talked alot. (this is the aunt that didnt want to share Christmas with us because of my uncle) long story if anyone remembers but anyhow I made it clear to her that although my feelings were hurt I am not dwelling on it. I can not MAKE people want me in their lives. She basically told me that "they" are having problems. I listened for a bit then I told her, you have to think fo yourself, your life, you can only be misserable so long! She said my uncle didnt realize how he hurt me. I said it does not matter what is done is done. I am not mad anymore.

Which brings me to my next point. Being positive in 2009. I made a concious desicion to only think positive. I have to! It is the only way I will make it. Last night I was laying in bed and my mind was wondering, as it does and I was thinking about this and that and I litterally said Cynthia you cant keep worrying and i closed my eyes and pictured myself in fabric store LOL. I was rubbing all the fabrics and it totally worked. I fell alseep with out nots in my stomach. Maybe tonight I will visit San Diego! Everytime I even start worrying or get a negative thought I have to stop and think of something else!

Ladies I feel this is going to be a great year,,,it has to be,,if we choose!

Toodles

Back to normal here this week girls have had a nice 2 week break from schooling time to get back to it. SO we will be starting schooling very soon. Also got some cleaning to do. And workout but gonna wait till my husband gets home so much easier he watches the kids and I can workout with no distractions. I'm thinking of doing Tae Bo today.

azcyn~ I agree thinking positive helps I need to do it more. I hate when TMI shows up evil thing lol.

Cyn -- Great idea to think positive and find a way to remove the knots from your stomach.

I've found that when I'm successful in weight loss, other areas of my life are positively affected. Who knew?!

Morning Ladies!

Cyn: I love that idea about being positive. I can be a rather negative person at times, especially when TOM comes a knockin'. Perhaps that should be my new years resolution...to be positive and adventurous! :P

************

My TOM hasn't arrived yet, but I have symptoms and I swear I have had such a run of bad luck. I'm going from this cold, right into TOM, which came at the worst time as I wanted to get to the doctor to see about PMDD and if that is what I am experiencing every month. So, I'm going to hang in there this month and make an appointment after. I'm keeping things in check..

I'm going to be going to the store tonight so I can purchase a personal sized blender. I hate dragging my blender out and it isn't that great to be begin with. The thing is, I don't have counter space, and I mean that. I have my stove top that I place a cutting board over. So, a blender or what not doesn't really fit anyhow. I really want to get back to drinking smoothies and fresh juice, starting with smoothies first. Green smoothies for breakfast and a smoothie for lunch on the days I don't want to fuss about.

I HATE breakfast and always have. It has been a constant struggle with me since I was a little girl. I can't skip it, so I must get myself to eat. A smoothie seems like a win-win for me as it isn't really "eating" yet it is lol. I'm cutting out bread, yeast, and other foods this month to give my skin a break and see if things improve.

I noticed my hair seems to be growing back from my scalply issues. No more scratching! I know that is what causes the hair loss, so I'm putting that on my "to do" list when I go see the doc.

Anyhow, I'm weak today, but getting well. Going to do some house work then jump back into exercising tomorrow. YAY!

Hope you all are good today!

Hi all

I feel a lot better than I did yesterday when the phrase "death warmed up" comes to mind. It is surprising what a good nights sleep and rest does for you. Nature does have a way of healing you, nice when you do not take to take pills and potions. Not that I don't realise that they are great as well. It is a wonder I don't rattle if you shake me. If it was not for them I would not function at the level I do and have the quality of life. So I am eternally grateful for them. The next step if pills and potions do not work is brain surgery :eek and that sounds scary stuff to me not to mention the risks that would be involved.

The washing machine has been fixed today which I am very grateful for. The pump was blocked with one of our pooches "poopy bags" . DH has a habit of keeping them in the back pocket of his trousers/jeans. just in case Rizzie decides to perform I must have missed it when searching through his pockets prior to doing the laundry. This must have been a long time ago as it was a red "poopy bag" and we have not used that brand in simply ages we found a much more cheaper brand which were black. The guy whom fixed it said it could have been the case it is just that the lint that comes naturally off washing goes into the pump and it has just backed up until it became completely block. He very kindly did not charge us even though he could as it was a bag that had blocked it rather than lint. He just put down that it was a blockage and it will come under our insurance.

ToniLight Thanks for letting me know what TOPS is. This sounds an excellent idea to me as a tool to aid weigh loss especially if you have a limited budget.

dgramie Yes undergarments can make a huge difference to how your clothes look upon you. I know when I have "spanx type" garment on clothing looks a 100 times better on me.

Jacquie668 I wish you a speedy recovery. At least you have not gained any weight so one small positive to be grateful for though I know when you feel so grotty it does not feel like it.

Baz xo I found that when I started my healthy eating it was "rough" for a couple of days as your body detoxes from the rubbish you have been previously eating. If you can stick it out the results will be worth it you get rid of those horrid cravings for more sweet substances. To deal with the headaches take simple pain killers like paracetamol or aspirin check with doctor or pharmacist before taking especially if on any other medication.

I have a tendency to suffer from low blood sugar levels so know how that feels. I find that eating regularly and often prevents most of the low blood sugar levels.

sandybar I know others on here have helped point me in the right direction on this weight loss path as sometimes you can not see the woods for the trees and at times I have needed the odd .

Heather Yes shaving just a small amount of calories off per day can have a good impact on weight loss. It can be as little as 100 calories per day (small banana) if you want to think of it in the form of food. Though that is 700 calories less you are eating and with the exercise it has positive results.

dogpal My weight always creeps up a few pounds when it is TOM or I have had something with a wee bit too much sodium in.

I still can not believe it that I can fit into a size 14 (12 us) some brands I am a size 16 (14 us). I still look in the mirror and the image I see is not the image in my mind of myself which is of my bigger self. I am sure it will catch up eventually though I have been overweight for the majority of my life I suppose it is not going to happen overnight.

gggirls I have not had a stir fry in a don't know when. You got me thinking it is about time I got round to cooking one.

NoLifeWithoutHorses Typical TOM to come when you least want it when the Biggest Loser Challenge commences. One little bonus is next week your weight loss should look good

Debbie54 Giving up cigarettes was one thing but my battle with food is much harder. Like you say you have to eat in order to live. I think my battle with food will be a constant one and I will have to be vigilant all the time. I am hoping that as the years go by it will become a little easier like it did with cigarettes.

CatherineM You brought a smile to my face when you said that your DH friends called ma'am and your threating to bop them (well in your head at least). To me ma'am is the title given to the Queen of UK so seems strange to me to here that term though I do know that it is used as form of being polite. My dentist whom comes originally from Poland calls me ma'am and it really weird to me though I know she is being polite and was probably taught American English as opposed to British English. Well that is what I am guessing.

princesspuffypants Glad you had some fun time with your family this weekend. I think when we have a busy day we can easily make bad food choices and I have to hold my hand up to doing it as well. The only thing I do the next meal or snack that I am possibly able to choose something healthy rather than in the past where I would continue to eat unhealthily and start my "diet" tomorrow.

Americaninuk Yes it is so easy to let things slide when you are unwell and go for our "comfort" foods. Mind tend to be cake the sweet and gooeyer the better I think we all have our "evil food" that lure us like bees to a honey pot.

Idealmuse back it you have lost the weight successfully before so you know in your heart you can do it again.

Sound like you have lots of exercise training for Triathlons which I know must be difficult but must feel wonderful once you have passed that finish line such a sense of achievement.

azcyn I have never had artichoke either though I must admit all the vegetables I have tried there has only been one I have not liked peas in any shape way or form.

Yes life is too short to be angry at people it is nice that you have a forgiving nature. So true you can not make people want them in their lives. You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

The method you used to relax is called relaxation through imagery in the field of psychiatry nursing where I used to work. I love that method of making you lose yourself and the worlds your oyster where your mind can take you.

keeperofthehome4 It can't so easy fitting in exercise with little ones to care for.

All the news , and Thanks for hope to drop by tomorrow but a busy schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday so a few spare minutes magically appear Take care till next time

Good Morning all,

Lovely snowy day here in Northern Idaho. lol. We have soooo much snow in our yards it kind of is funny.

Debbie: Have fun with Jim on the Wii Fit. Joel will only do it with me once in a while. I guess he just doesn't have much motivation right now. I hope you enjoy it. I do mine every morning pretty much without fail.

Jacquie: Glad that you are feeling better.

Catherine: Ya, I think I saw a couple of zombies this morning out there when I was driving to work. I like your picture. You are such a pretty lady!

Beth: How did your first day on your program go? I hope well. About your weight don't fret. It is just a number that you started on. Hugs and I hope it went well.

Luan: That is so nice that you got to spend time with your family. Makes my tummy warm.

Americaninuk: Woo hoo to the 2nd op day!

Ideal: Welcome back. I remember you. Congrats on the success you have had with weight loss and I'm very impressed by the triatholans you are doing!

Cyn: Awesome attitude!

Ally: How did the Tae Bo go?

Purple: I still get amazed every time I reallize I am wearing a 16. I can't imagine how awesome it will be to get into a 14 or 12.

Well, I started some boneless skinless chicken breasts to cook and now it is time for me to go exercise. I have been shirking that for so long now because of my back. I just need to move my body.

Is anyone else looking forward to the Biggest Looser that is starting tomorrow night I think? I saw some previews for it and the young man that they tell he is their heaviest contestant ever just breaks me heart. I am going to be watching each week on Wednesdays after Tivoing it while I ride my bike or do some other cardio machine. I can't wait. lol.

Blessings all,
Annie

Annie -- I cried in the dressing room the first time I fit into a size 12. It's something I never thought I could do.

Course, now I need to get BACK there!!

Heather: I can't even imagine it really. I still have a hard time believing my size is 16 bottoms right now and 14 tops. I think all of the sizes are wrong. lol. You can do it. You are so determined and such an inspiration!

Debi: Don't let them tire you out too much. lol.

You guys, I just worked my bootie off. I finally got around to doing the Jillian Michael's "Front Side" DVD that I rented from Netflix. There are 6 circuits in one DVD and I did Circuit one and started whining to myself about my back and this and that and then I gave myself a talking to and went back in there, I had turned the DVD off, and finished it. I did it just like the people on TV!!! Well, except for the final flat ab workout thing she calls "Prone". I couldn't hold it for 30 seconds. I held it for 10 rested a few then 10 and rested a few, like that. I am soooooo proud of myself and wanted to come share with you guys and also tell you, I recommend the "Front Side" I will try back side this week too.

Blessings,
Annie

Catherine, have you checked your BP today? Get that thing out and check it!! I hope it's down for you.

Beth, how did the weigh-in go?

Luan, glad to hear you had a nice drive and fun with the family. Oceanside is soooooo pretty!

Americaninuk, that's great that you're back OP and got some exercise in already!

Idealmuse, I remember you and I'm so glad you joined the BLC. I think it's what we all need to keep us going. You'll lose that weight quickly while training for a triathalon, I would think.

Cyn, that's pretty good that you were able to think of something that gives you pleasure and you went to sleep. I gotta try that. I remember how hurt you were with you aunt and uncle. I'm glad you talked and let her know how it hurt you but you got over it. I hope they work things out between them.

Jacquie, hope TOM holds off a little while longer to get you feeling better. I'm trying to think of the personal blender my son has and it works really well, but I just can't think of it. It was advertised on tv but now you can get it in stores. When I think of it, I'll let ya know, it works really good!! A little pricey though I think.

Purpleorc, glad the washer is working again. Really nice that he didn't charge you for doing it too. I would of never thought to put it in to the insurance company. That was a good idea.
I agree, I'm hoping with time, that this battle with food addiction will become easier, but from what I've heard, people who have reached goal, still struggle.

Annie, yes, the Wii Fit is fun and I really enjoy it. I've unlocked alot of the stuff already. I haven't even tried the strength training that much, or yoga. I do a couple of the easy ones on those, but that's it. I work alot on aerobics and balance.
Stay warm with all that snow. Ours is finally starting to melt off and now they are telling us to look out for floods as the snow level may go up to 4000.
Yes,. I can't wait for the BL to start too. It sounds really interesting and with the heaviest people they've ever had. I hope they all did great!!
Whoooo! Sounds like you got a really good workout today!! Keep it up Annie!!

I've been keeping the bad thoughts about bad foods for me, at bay. It seems to be working. Everytime I think about eating something bad, I just grab a piece of extra gum and start chewing and envision myself pounds thinner. I just can't let the evil thoughts in and I know I did before. I would sit there and think about the bad foods and how good they tasted and thought, o well, why not? And there I would go eating wrong. I feel so much better now that I've been eating better.
WEll, gotta get busy with clay. Brain is sort of flaking out on me though, don't know what to make. Think SPRING, think SPRING!

Hi Annie,

I have been thinking about your lower back pain. Do you stretch your butt muscles? hamstrings? I know when mine are tight, my lower back hurts. Stretching helps and gets rid of the pain. Hope it does you too:

Annie - I'm so proud of us - Jillian kicks my butt too with a Wii game. Please take care of the back though.

I came home and did WATP and will do more exercise after dinner. I am so stiff from sitting more today than I have since the first of the year. Dinner is turkey smoked sausage with cabbage - what's on your plate tonight?

Keep up the great work to all of you!

Hugs,
Carol
